This paper is an expanded and somewhat more elaborated version of an earlier study in which I tried to give a general overview on the word-usage concerning the passion of Jesus Christ in the early Christian creeds. The purpose of this short paper is in part to give a comparative presentation of the sufferings of Lord Jesus Christ in the Western Creeds, and in part I also try to define the role of mentioning the name of Pontius Pilatus in them.

The erudition, precision and commitment guiding this study is admirable. Nonetheless, while linguistic analysis may entice the reader with the promise of a higher degree of objectivity, preconceptions regarding the base text, its structuring, the construction of reading, and the interpretation of linguistic data involve a fair amount of subjective and debatable factors that confine Systemic Functional Linguistics within the methods to be tamed by responsible scholarship.

Pál apostol mindkét Thesszalonikai levélben hivatkozik az apostoli hagyomány átadására és átvételére. Milyen felvilágosítással szolgálnak ezek a hivatkozások az apostoli tradíció jellegzetes vonásaira nézve? Formailag és tartalmilag mennyiben hasonlított e folyamat a korabeli bölcseleti és vallási irányzatok tanítói gyakorlatához, illetve mennyiben tért el azoktól? Milyen témakörben hivatkozik az apostol a hagyományozás folyamatára? Milyen szerepe van a tradíciónak az igaz hit kialakulásában? Vajon a szóbeli és írásbeli hagyományra történő hivatkozás (2Thessz 2,15) alátámasztja-e a római katolikus egyháznak a tradícióról alkotott felfogását, vagy igazolja-e a protestáns egyházak tanítását? Ezekre a kérdésekre kívánok felelni az első és második Thesszalonikai levél vizsgálata rendjén.

Ebben a dolgozatban arra a kérdésre keressük a választ, hogy a nyugat­-európai kortárs teológiák miként határozzák meg, és milyen kontextus­ban használják a diaszpóra fogalmát. Ennek érdekében áttekintjük az elmúlt pár évtizedben, illetve a frissen megjelent missziológiai munkákat természetesen annak tudatában, hogy ezt az angol, német, holland, spanyol, cseh és más nem­zetiségű teológusok írásait felölelő irodalmat szinte lehetetlen teljességében át­fogni.

Közismert, hogy a keresztyén teológiában a társadalometikai kérdések iránti érdeklődés a 21. század első évtizedében élénkült meg. Ez azzal magyarázható, hogy a társadalomban élő teológia és egyház nem maradhat néma a változó társadalomban jelentkező problémákat illetőleg. Ezeknek sokasága közül tanulmányomban a globalizáció társadalometikai vetületeivel és vonzásköreivel foglalkozom.

In this short paper I would like to provide a comparative analysis of the passages concerning the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Early Christian confessions (among them the Apostolic Creed1 as well), because these passages are frequently the source of theological misunderstanding and debates. The main question which urged me to do this research had occurred in relation with the Apostolic Creed. How do we say correctly: ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’ or ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, under Pontius Pilate He was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’? I shall try to answer this question by analysing the relevant passages of the creeds which were composed in the first six centuries.
