The paper discusses the challenges of Christian identity in a (post)modern con-text in relation to fundamental elements of theology. It explores the role of doc¬trines in the life of the church, emphasising their importance in relation to worship and the authority of the Word of God. The paper highlights the importance of cor¬porate identity as Christian and Reformed, emphasising the significance of cultural identity in the context of Christianity. It addresses the question of what makes the church and the conditions of being a church, reflecting on the essence of Chris-tianity.

Az átmenetiség korában élő egyház megkerülhetetlen feladata, hogy állást foglaljon az értékorientáció új irányait illetően. Tanulmányunkban ezeknek a folyamatoknak a bemutatására törekszünk. Victor Turner brit antropológus ’társadalmi dráma’ elmélete és azon belül a rituálé, liminalitás (küszöblét) és communitas fogalmai sok szempontból találó leírása lehet azoknak a társadalmi jelenségeknek, amelyek az egyháztársadalmat is jellemzik. Ebben az értelmezési keretben az egyház teológiai és intézményes önreflexiójára fókuszálunk a jelenkor árnyaltabb megértésére törekedve.
