The sermons written for the first Sunday after the epiphany, according to the medieval order of the pericopes, are based on the story of 12-year-old Jesus teaching in the temple (Luke 2:41-52). Therefore, the duties of parents and children are usually presented in these sermons. A following of this pericopal tradition can be found among 16th-century Hungarian publications in the books of the pastors Péter Bornemisza, István Beythe and György Kulcsár, and the priest Miklós Telegdi. Through their sermons, I examine how these authors wrote about the ‘good’ and the ‘bad’ child as well as what methods they offered for improving the behaviour and morals of said ‘bad’ child.

Kihívást jelent az erdélyi református egyház számára, hogy a szó igaz értelemében reformátussá legyen. Olyan reformátussá, aki reformátusságát a keresztyén élet és gondolkodás kezdeteire és forrásaira alapozza. Ez azt jelenti: el kell sajátítania a szereteten és a gondoskodó szolgálatkészségen felépülő életformáját, amelyet az imádság és könyörgés tart fenn, és idegenként kell élnie: idegenként, de nem a történelem során végrehajtott politikai döntések következtében, hanem egy lényegesebb isteni döntés alapján, amely a keresztyéneket a mennyek országának örököseivé tette és így mennyei polgárjoggal ruházta fel őket. Tökéletesen tudatában vagyok annak, milyen nehéz megtenni ezt a teljes fordulatot. Még a Zsidókhoz írott levél olvasóit is figyelmeztetni kellett arra, hogy el ne forduljanak attól, amit Isten kezdett el velük.

It is a challenge to the Reformed Church in Erdély to become really Reformed: reformed according to the beginnings and sources of Christian life and thought. That means: developing a lifestyle of love and care sustained by prayer and intercession, living as foreigners, – foreigners, not due to political decisions of the past, but due to a much more fundamental decision of the Lord to make Christians heirs of a heavenly kingdom, with a citizenship in heaven. I am very well aware that it will be very hard to accomplish this new U-turn.

Evangelisation through reformed eyes. This study was presented at a small conference of reformed and catholic theologians. The presentation of evangelisation through a reformed prism is underlined by thoughts of great reformed predecessors. There are five points, all presenting a different aspect of this question. The first treats the fashion of evangelisation. Because of the fact that evangelisation, as a term is not firmly identified, using different slogans and dealing with evangelisation as a fashion could be dangerous. This is why a good definition with the approval of all Christian churches is needed. Another important thought of this first point is the fact, that evangelisation is not new, by no means a fashion, it is only the submission to an ancient, biblical command of the great mission.

Kutatásom célja felkutatni és megvilágítani azokat a tényezőket, melyek tönkre teszik a lelkipásztorok házasságát. Egyre nagyobb gondot jelentenek a zátonyra futott házasságok, nemcsak társadalmunkban, hanem egyházunkban is. Miért megy végbe napjainkban egyre nagyobb számban lelkipásztorok családjában a válás? Mi okozza ezt? Milyen megoldások vannak ennek elkerüléséhez? Lehet-e ezeket gyakorlatba fektetni, és ha igen, hogyan? Ezekre a kérdésekre igyekszem megtalálni a választ kutatásom során.

Ahhoz, hogy megértsük a levelek mondanivalóját, meg kell ismernünk a gyülekezetek konkrét helyzetét. Ehhez pedig a történelmi háttér feltárása lesz segítségünkre. Vajon kik voltak a nikolaiták, akiket több levél is megemlít? Mit jelentenek a sátán zsinagógája és királyi széke, a fehér kövecskék és a hajnalcsillag? Kit szimbolizál Jezábel? Hogyan értelmezzük a tíz napig tartó nyomorúságot és a langymelegség állapotát? Ezekre és hasonló kérdésekre próbálunk választ keresni dolgozatunk során.
