This paper is an expanded and somewhat more elaborated version of an earlier study in which I tried to give a general overview on the word-usage concerning the passion of Jesus Christ in the early Christian creeds. The purpose of this short paper is in part to give a comparative presentation of the sufferings of Lord Jesus Christ in the Western Creeds, and in part I also try to define the role of mentioning the name of Pontius Pilatus in them.

Ezen tanulmány azoknak a 16–17. századi református énekeknek a történetét vizsgálja, amelyek az újabb énekeskönyv-kiadásokból kimaradtak, de közben a nép nem hagyta feledésbe merülni, hanem továbbra is fenntartotta, megőrizte és különböző formákban átörökítette. A rövid történeti és fogalmi vizsgálódás után tanulmányom egy konkrét népi dallamot és annak elemzését mutatja be.

A 18. századi református kollégiumi éneklés sajátos szerepet töltött be a magyar dal- és kórusirodalom történetének alakulásában. Bár az énektanításra és a zenei ismeretek elsajátítására már korábban is nagy hangsúlyt fektettek ezekben az iskolákban, mégis a 17. századi énekkarok megszervezésével, majd a Maróthi György által bevezetett többszólamú zsoltárénekléssel, az 1743-ban megjelentett Goudimel-féle négyszólamú zsoltároskönyv kiadásával új irányt vett az egyházi, ugyanakkor a világi magyar zenei élet is.

A fenti főcím után zárójelbe tett kérdőjel a forrásjelölés pontosságát vonja kétségbe. Ez a tanulmány a kérdés megtárgyalása és a helyesbítések érdekében született a magyarországi bizottsági munka keretei között. Azonban a megtár­gyalás és a helyesbítés munkája ma már az egész Kárpát-medence reformátusságára tartozik. A következő néhány lap pedig azt is szemlélteti, hogy mennyi munka vár még a bizottságra az énekek és az énekeskönyv ügyében, mert eh­hez hasonló kérdéseket kell még tisztáznunk több száz énekünk esetében.

Minden egyházközségnek megvan a maga jellegzetessége, sajátos arculata. Az I. Mezőségi Ifjúsági Konferencia azt a célt tűzte maga elé, hogy felkutassa azokat az értékeket, amelyek széppé teszik egy-egy gyülekezet lelki arcát, és amelyek megtartó erőt jelentenek az eljövendő nemzedékek számára.

In this short paper I would like to provide a comparative analysis of the passages concerning the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Early Christian confessions (among them the Apostolic Creed1 as well), because these passages are frequently the source of theological misunderstanding and debates. The main question which urged me to do this research had occurred in relation with the Apostolic Creed. How do we say correctly: ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’ or ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, under Pontius Pilate He was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’? I shall try to answer this question by analysing the relevant passages of the creeds which were composed in the first six centuries.
