This paper is an expanded and somewhat more elaborated version of an earlier study in which I tried to give a general overview on the word-usage concerning the passion of Jesus Christ in the early Christian creeds. The purpose of this short paper is in part to give a comparative presentation of the sufferings of Lord Jesus Christ in the Western Creeds, and in part I also try to define the role of mentioning the name of Pontius Pilatus in them.

In the past decades, research has raised the idea of a theology of the Septuagint (LXX) on various occasions. Important works were recently published on this topic in the Handbuch zur Septuaginta and the Septuagint and Cognate Studies series. The general theological tendencies of the LXX are identified by scholars in eschatology, messianism, anti-anthropomorphism and angelology. These tend to all be regarded as further developments of the theology of the Hebrew Bible (HB). However, one can trace the evolution of these and other main topics of the LXX in the New Testament (NT) and in the later apostolic writings as well. Based on three concise case studies, I point out the evolution of theological ideas from the HB through the LXX up to the NT in this paper.

Miért nem képes az ember a közösségre? Ha pedig nem képes, miért nem tud élni közösség nélkül? Hogyan vezeti vissza Isten az embert a maga és embertársai közösségébe? Ez az 1947- ben, tehát a második világháború után készült magántanári dolgozat a Biblia alapján keres feleletet az előbbi kérdésekre, és a következő lépéseken végighaladva kísérel meg teológiai választ adni a közösség kérdéskörére: 1. Isten úgy alkotta meg az embert, hogy emberi mivoltának lényege a szeretetközösség legyen Istennel és embertársával. 2. A Biblia rámutat a közösséget megrontó bűnre is, ugyanis a bűn lényege éppen az ember szándékos kiszakadása az Atya és a testvér közösségéből. 3. A bűn sötét hátteréből viszont előragyog Krisztus megváltása, a kegyelemből és hit által történő megigazulás, amely megteremti az igazi közösséget, az egyházat.

Der Misna-Traktat Nazir. II. Teil: Übersetzung und Erklärung der Kapitel IV–IX. Die kommentierte Übersetzung der ersten drei Kapitel des Misna-Traktats Nazir ist in dieser Zeitschrift erschienen (Református Szemle 101, 2008/2, S. 123–134.). Als Fortsetzung dazu bietet der Verfasser in diesem Aufsatz die ungarische Fassung der übrigen sechs Kapitel. Damit ist der Traktat Nazir zum ersten Mal vollständig, und mit beigefügter Kommentierung auf Ungarisch erschienen. Als Grundlage der Übersetzung wurde auch hier die folgende Ausgabe genommen: Mischnajot. Die sechs Ordnungen der Mischna. Hebräischer Text mit Punktation, deutscher Übersetzung und Erklärung. Teil III: Ordnung Naschim, Übersetzt und erklärt von M. Petuchowski und S. Schlesinger, Victor Goldschmidt Verlag, Basel, Dritte Auflage, 1968. Als Kontroll-Text wurde gelegentlich die folgende Übersetzung herangezogen: D. Correns: Die Mischna in deutscher Übersetzung mit einer Einleitung und Anmerkungen, Hannover 2002.

In this short paper I would like to provide a comparative analysis of the passages concerning the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Early Christian confessions (among them the Apostolic Creed1 as well), because these passages are frequently the source of theological misunderstanding and debates. The main question which urged me to do this research had occurred in relation with the Apostolic Creed. How do we say correctly: ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’ or ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, under Pontius Pilate He was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’? I shall try to answer this question by analysing the relevant passages of the creeds which were composed in the first six centuries.
