This study attempts to identify, clarify and evaluate the changing concept of missions in the Hungarian Reformed Church in Transylvania with special reference to the modality/sodality models during the years 1895-1950.

Examining Some Ethical Issues in the Context of War -- One of the main questions of this paper is whether the arguments in defence of war can be coupled with equal concern for the laws of war. While a permissive reading of the classical, theological just war tradition draws a number of conclu-sions that can be debated, this essay has attempted to draw attention to the fact that Augustine's questions of disordered political commitments (loves) are insep-arable from the more familiar questions of “right reason”, “right power” and “right intention”. Augustine’s reading reminds us that political desires still determine not only decisions to enter into armed conflict, but also the application of the inter-national law. On the one hand, politics is a means of influencing the dominant powers, a means of spreading their values, but also a means of holding them to account. It is also the voice of the oppressed and the vulnerable.

Rezi Elek számos tanulmányt írt házassággal, gyermekvállalással vagy válással kapcsolatos rendszeres teológiai, illetve társadalometikai témákban. Ezekhez kapcsolódva tekintjük át az alábbiakban a házasság és válás kérdésének bibliai hátterét.

Az Egyház örök keletkezési típusát a Mk 3,13—15-ben találjuk meg, ahol Krisztus magához szólítja a sokaságból azokat, akiket akart és azok hozzámentek. A választás, amely ezúttal példaképpen tizenkét emberre szól, azért történik, hogy a választottak vele legyenek és hogy azután kiküldje őket prédikálni, hatalmat adva nekik egyúttal a gyógyításra és ördögűzésre is. Ebben a választásban és annak céljában előttünk áll az Egyház alapításának előrevetett képe, a keletkezés tipikus példája. Az Egyház Istennek a Krisztusban való szuverén megszólító és elválasztó akaratából létesül, lényege a választottaknak Krisztussal való életközössége, amiből következik az Egyháznak, tagjai által való igehirdetési és missziói munkája.

Dáné István a szászvárosi ev. ref. középtanoda története című művének, mely az erdélyi ev. ref. egyházkerület 1863.-i évkönyvében jelent meg főképpen pedig a néhai Szabó György szászvárosi igazgató-tanár e tárgyra vonatkozó kéziratának bőséges felhasználásával.
