Textele sacre conțin pasaje și revelații care ne poziționează în zona limitelor cunoașterii noastre și ne confruntă cu întrebări inconfortabile. Cât de mult putem înțelege despre acțiunile divine? Când recunoaștem că cunoștințele noastre, hermeneutica noastră meticuloasă, logica noastră bine calibrată și chiar dogmele credinței noastre ating punctul lor final? Un exemplu notabil în acest sens îl reprezintă 1 Petru 3:18–22. De-a lungul istoriei, acest pasaj a fost asociat cu mai multe texte din Noul Testament, iar pentru a înțelege mai bine sensul său original, este necesar să deslușim aceste conexiuni și să ajungem la firul inițial care rămâne distinct și recunoscut în cadrul întregii țesături. În această explorare, ne propunem să urmăm acest fir și să cercetăm posibile interpretări și explicații, pornind de la trei între-bări esențiale: Cine sunt aceste duhuri? Despre ce a predicat Isus în cazul lor? Când a avut loc această întâlnire misterioasă?

Pavel din Tars a intrat în istoria creștinismului ca apostol al neamurilor. A fost un predicator neobosit și un învățător inspirat al Evangheliei lui Dumnezeu, care și-a îndeplinit misiunea cu cea mai mare fervoare și devotament necondiționat până la sfârșitul vieții sale. Cu povestea sa de viață fascinantă și cu experiența sa considerabilă în plantarea și consolidarea bisericilor creștine, el se află astăzi în fața noastră ca un om demn de atenția fiecărui slujitor. În ciuda unicității sale, el ne stă înainte în multe feluri ca un exemplu de înțelepciune, sobrietate, puritate, răbdare, altruism, moderație, fidelitate și dragoste frățească sinceră.

My interest in the topic of suffering has been stimulated essentially by the experiences from the pastoral visits and pastoral encounters in a Transylvanian congregation where I work as a pastor. The interchange with the believers and their hardship lead me to conclude that many homes along the streets there are houses of suffering, many life-stories are stories of suffering. Often the suffering encountered at the heart of the believers’ home is something what makes them to “live as if they will never die and die as if they had never lived”. Nevertheless, accompanying the believers in their search for meaning and comfort I realized that they continue to believe in God despite suffering, impoverishment and oppression. But what I often experience is a struggle with ethical shortcuts in the midst of suffering.

The “Why?” question emerges inevitably whenever a tragedy or trauma happens in our human lives. The case was hardly different in prehistoric times, in the Old Testament, or in Jesus’s era. It is an intriguing question therefore what Jesus’ attitude and approach would have been to such unexpected disasters.

The present study deals with the characteristic features of the ministry of teachers in the early church, contrasting them with the rabbis in the synagogues. As charismatic characters in the early church, teachers have played a role compa-rable to that of the apostles and prophets. In a different order of ideas, we would like to investigate whether the competence of charismatic teachers should be considered universal, or whether they played a rather local administrative role in the way bishops, deacons and presbyters did. At the same time, we shall analyse the content of their teaching aiming to define the place of teachers within the early church. We shall conclude with remarks concerning the development of the teachers’ status in the post-Pauline period.

Júdás evangéliumának történeti háttere és bemutatása a nagy nyilvánosság előtt. Miután az evangéliumot ismertető tudósok egyetértettek abban, hogy ez az irat Kr. u. a 2. században keletkezett, némely újságíró mégis fölvetette annak a lehetőségét, hogy Júdás evangéliuma olyan hagyományanyagot is megőrzött, amely régebbi és megbízhatóbb annál, ami kanonikus evangéliumokban lelhető fel. Így Júdás evangéliumának bemutatása célzatossá és kétértelmű vált a nagy nyilvánosság előtt.
