In this dissertation I would like to present an extract from Philipp Melanchthon's work Catechesis puerilis. I translated part of the work from Latin into Hungarian. The work, Catechesis puerilis, is quite distinct from Martin Luther's well-known Small Catechism. However, their objective is the same: to teach the knowledge of the Christian faith. Philipp Melanchthon begins the catechesis with a grammar lesson for school-age children. I have divided my dissertation into five major units. The first part is about the life of Philipp Melanchthon. I will briefly talk about his childhood, his school years, and then about his personality, his family and his family life. I am interested in what Melanchthon was like as a child, who were the people who helped him, who took him in, so to speak. In the second part I talk about Melanchthon as a teacher. I was curious to know what Melanchthon was like as a teacher.

Adorjáni Zoltán, a Kolozsvári Protestáns Teológiai Intézet újszövetséges professzora 2021. november 13-án töltötte a 65. életévét. A tiszteletére megjelent könyv 43 szerző tanulmányát tartalmazza. A kötet szerzői több szálon kötődnek az ünnepelthez: jelenlegi kollégák és egykori kollégák, testvérintézmények tanárai, tanítványok, barátok. Az itt megjelenített tanulmányok tartalmilag érintik a biblicum, a rendszeres teológia, a gyakorlati teológia, az egyháztörténet, a művészettörténet és művelődéstörténet területeit.

Adorjáni Zoltán, lapunk főszerkesztője 60 éves. Vezérigének Sámuel mondását választottam, mert úgy érzem, illik az alkalomhoz. Mert mi is van ebben az igeversben? A próféta visszatekint és leltárt készít. Visszatekint a megtett útra, és elégedetten nyugtázza, hogy az Úr mindvégig mellette állt. A „mindeddig” pedig azt jelzi, hogy az útnak nincs vége, a folyamat nem zárult le. Ez itt legfeljebb csak pihenő, meg-/felszusszanás.

Melanchton is usually considered as both a Humanist and a Reformer. Many of the books and studies written about him present him as a theologian. It is also worthwhile studying the Humanist intellectual components of his personality, since, after all, a great proportion of his works are ones which present him as a deep thinking, through intellectual, writing with sublime eloquence.
