Nonetheless, while linguistic analysis may entice the reader with the promise of a higher degree of objectivity, preconceptions regarding the base text, its structuring, the construction of reading, and the interpretation of linguistic data involve a fair amount of subjective and debatable factors that confine Systemic Functional Linguistics within the methods to be tamed by responsible scholarship.

Ez tehát a tulajdonképpeni restitutio ad institutionem, ti. nem csupán az intézménynek (ad institutum) történő, hanem legalább annyira az okulásunkra (ad institutionem nostram) szolgáló helyreállítás. Sőt: helyreigazítás. Az egészséges állam–egyház viszony úgy valósulhat meg a jövendőben, ha a jelenkori államhatalom megszívleli a Konstantin-féle restitúciós elveket, a keresztyén Anyaszentegyház pedig nem feledkezik el John Wyclifnek az egyházi javak céljára vonatkozó figyelmeztetéséről: a mindenkori egyháznak elmulaszthatatlan kötelessége, hogy összes javaival Isten dicsőségét szolgálja.
