The General Synod of 1820 is the subject of my Master's thesis. I believe that the topic and the sources it reveals are indispensable for the research of the Transylvanian Reformed Church history. I will start from the life of the church in the 19th century and move towards the source that I have uncovered. In the excavated source, points appear which are connected with the liturgical history, the history of the order, and the rules and customs of burial. A slice of this will be presented and unpacked in this essay. The information and the improved readability of the record will be useful for all those who wish to enrich their knowledge of church history.

A dolgozat során lehetőségem nyílt, hogy külön megvizsgáljam az egyházmegye kialakulását és további történetét is. Furcsa volt előttem az a kettős helyzet, amiben az egyházmegye élt, tudniillik, hogy egyszerre két egyházkerület fennhatósága alá tartozott.

Mesteri dolgozatom témáját az 1803-1804-es Erdélyi Református Egyházkerület zsinati jegyzőkönyvei adják. Fontosnak tartottam a jegyzőkönyvek tanulmányozása mellett, hogy az adott kor történelmét is felleltározzam. Erre azért volt szükség, hogy megértsem a zsinati határozások, végzések alapját. Dolgozatom rövid áttekintést tartalmaz a 18. századi népesség változásról, mezőgazdasági, politikai és kulturális életről. Emellett pedig a vallási szempontból meghatározó rendelettel, a türelmi rendelettel is foglalkoztam részletesebben. A jegyzőkönyvekben több olyan problémával is találkozunk, amelyek manapság is gyakran felmerülnek. Többek között a válás kérdése, papi fizetés, gyermek elhelyezése válás esetén, adósság, stb.
