Although György Enyedi’s (1555-1597) posthumous exegetical masterpiece Explicationes (Cluj, 1598) did not contain any explicit statements on political thinking, his Hungarian sermons testify his theoretical interest towards political philosophy. The paper focuses on sermons 67, 68 and 184, wherein Enyedi formulates his version of natural law. Due to his antitrinitarian theological presuppositions and his philosophical anthropology deeply inherent in the former, Enyedi’s position does not match fully the standard versions of natural law of his time. on the one hand, Enyedi’s approach proves to be much more intellectual in character than the voluntaristic correction of Thomist natural law in Scholastic-Suáresian theory. on the other hand, the antitrinitarian dismissal of original sin as a chief anthropological motif results in differences from the protestant natural law tradition, as Melanchthon developed it in the 1530s.

This volume contains selected papers from the broader field of History of Christian Doctrines, and more specifically from Patristics and Reformation studies, but also from the border between them. Most of them were written in the academic year 2014-2015, during my MA studies in the field of Patristics at the Theological University of the (vrijgemaakt) Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, in Kampen. The main topic of the MA programme was the Baptism in the Early Church, therefore the most of these papers presents various aspects of this question. In the following few paragraphs I will present short summary of each paper from this volume.

A reformkorban Magyarország számos iskolájára jellemző volt az, hogy egy-egy tanév önképzőköri munkáját a diákok felnőttek bevonásával kötetbe tömörítették, és nyomtatott formában közzétették. Ez a fajta olvasóközönség-kialakítási szándék foglalkoztatta a nagyenyedi diákokat is. Dolgozatomban a nagyenyedi Bethlen Gábor Kollégium reformkori önképzőkörének irodalmi termését elemzem. Virágkosár címmel három diák-önképzőköri gyűjtemény jelent meg az 1835, 1836 és 1837-es tanévekben. A kötetek szemléletváltás eredményeként jöhettek létre: megjelenésüket a felvilágosodás korabeli iskolareform, illetve olyan pedagógusok munkássága készítette elő, akik az anyanyelvhasználatot támogatták.

Jókai Mór valláshoz való viszonyulása kevéssé kutatott téma. Szinte minden regényében találkozunk különféle vallási utalásokkal, vallásos kifejezésekkel vagy egyszerűen csak a vallásos világképpel és szellemiséggel.
