Este o senzație teribilă pentru predicatorii practicanți să constate că metodele testate și ani de zile funcționale par să fie învechite, iar tipurile de predicări care păreau altădată eficiente sunt acum întâmpinate cu priviri plictisite și puterea lor de motivare de odinioară pare să fi dispărut. În astfel de momente, pastorii și specialiștii în omiletică încep să caute idei noi și inovatoare, pentru a putea pre-dica cu succes Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu. În bisericile protestante mainstream americane (bisericile metodiste, epis-copale, lutherane, prezbiteriene, etc.) această perioadă a fost numită „turnura narativă”. Părea că acesta ar fi fost răspunsul adecvat la multele probleme din predicarea americană care – s-a spus – a intrat în criză în anii '60 și '70.

Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

A Kárpát-medencei etnikumok mesenarratívájában a mostohaság fenoménje (árvaságra jutás, elválás, otthonról való eltávolítás, másvalakinek való átadás vagy újraházasodás miatt) igencsak gyakran fordul elő különböző típusok variánsaiban. A mítoszkutatók és folkloristák, az exegéták és a középkori, illetve az újkori történelem jeles tudósai számos diszciplína szemszögéből alaposan feltérképezték e fenomént. Ám az egyes mesenarratívák irodalmi hermeneutikai elemzése révén feltárul az a történelmi és szociokulturális háttér, egyéni és lokális közösségi tapasztalat, amelyből a társadalmi lét peremére vetett, olykor a családban éppen csak megtűrt, esetenként jogfosztott gyermek léte értelmezhető. A mesemondók – mintegy az elviselhetetlen mostohalét kompenzációjaként – egy, a hős mellé rendelt segítő lény, „istenküldötte ember” közbenjárása révén igyekeznek a rossz-tapasztalatot felülírni a jó-sors megteremtésének lehetőségével.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.
