In his 1583 ritual entitled Agendarius, which was innovative in many respects in comparison to its Hungarian predecessors, Bishop Miklós Telegdi of Pécs, the administrator of the diocese of Esztergom, added sample-like sermons to the rituals of the administration of the sacraments accompanying the great turning points of life (viz. baptism, confirmation, wedding etc.). He was presumably guided chiefly by pastoral considerations. For the second edition of 1596 (published after Telegdi’s death), the editors added a second funeral sermon, clearly intended for a more educated, urban audience – judging from the scholarly Latin quotations and the general tone. A comparison of the structure and content of the two speeches provides useful conclusions as to what the ecclesiastical authorities of the time considered advisable to preach at the time of death to mourners lacking basic schooling and what to the more learned audience.

The spiritual atmosphere can be pure and impure, life nourishing or stifling. The physical atmosphere can also be pure or polluted, life nourishing or stifling. In this context pure air means the abundance of man’s physical living conditions, the pureness and the absence of harm in the whole ecological system, ensuring man’s living space. It also means the balance, which has to exist between the food- and energy resources of our planet for the daily needs of its 7 billion inhabitants. There is a highly tense struggle going on for clean air, habitable earth in ecological as well as economic aspects. Our thesis: it is significant in which spiritual medium this battle takes place. The mere spiritual medium can contribute towards the solution of the problems, which the more and more polluted physical and economic climate brings about.

A 2014-es esztendő gróf losonci Bánffy Miklós emlékéveként marad fenn a köztudatban, az író, politikus, képzőművész születésének 140. évfordulóját ünnepelték határon innen és túl. De meg kell emlékeznünk elhunytáról is annak 65. évében. Ebből az alkalomból tesszük közzé dr. Ravasz László (1882—1975) református püspök gyászbeszédének kézzel javított gépiratos szövegét. Ez a Dunamelléki Református Egyházkerület Ráday Levéltárában őrzött hagyatékában maradt fenn.

Ebben a dolgozatban a helyreállítás-tan (ἀποκατάστασις) terminológiájának kialakulását vizsgáljuk. Fontosnak tartjuk meghatározni a fogalom etimológiáját és annak használatát az ókori görög forrásokban (sztoicizmus, Arisztotelész), a judaizmusban (beleértve a Septuagintát) és az Újszövetségben. A dolgozat jelentős részét az óegyházi kontextus vizsgálata teszi ki. Irenaeus az ἀποκατάστασις-tan előfutára, aki az univerzális rekapituláció (ἀνακεφαλαίωσις), megbékélés fogalmával elővételezi az Órigenész által megfogalmazott helyreállítás-tant. Irenaeus Az eretnekségek ellen (Adversus Haereses) című művének részletei alapján vizsgáljuk az univerzális rekapituláció terminológiáját. Ezt követi az ókeresztény gondolkodás első nagy összegzője, az alexandriai születésű Órigenész, akinek A princípiumokról című művében domborodik ki az ἀποκατάστασις tan.
