The thesis highlights the complex role of the masses in the New Testament. The synoptic tradition, namely Matthew, Mark, and Luke, depict the masses differently. Matthew is more sympathetic, while Luke maintains distance, portraying Jesus as a friend to the poor and oppressed. The analysis of three Greek words, all translated as 'masses' in English: 'πολλοί', 'λαός', and 'ὄχλος', is particularly important. 'πολλοί' is a general term for any large group, not just people. Luke uses it most frequently, while Matthew does not use it at all, indicating that for Matthew, people mean more than just numbers. 'λαός' in the Septuagint usually refers to the nation of Israel. Matthew, with a Hebrew mindset, uses 'λαός' in this sense, and does not equate it with 'ὄχλος', which means an anonymous crowd. The author points out that Matthew carefully chose his words, and this difference is especially important in Matthew 27,25, where the people take responsibility for Jesus' blood.

The second half of the 20th century can be characterised by a consolidation of all state structures of the Communist Party. The most important institution in keeping the power was the Secret Police (Securitate), which exercised a strict control over the Churches, including the Hungarian Reformed Church. The Securitate was mostly interested in the foreign contacts of the church. After the Second World War the Reformed Church has kept its contacts with the Reformed Churches in Hungary, as well as with many other Western European churches from the former West Germany, Holland, Switzerland, etc. The Secret Police’s purpose was to gather as many information as possible about the different contacts, and to control the whole issue.

During the Communist regime, in the sixties of the 20th century, the Protestant Theological Seminary started the student exchange program with churches and institutions from the Western part of Europe, mainly the Dutch Reformed Churches. It was in 1968 when the first Dutch couple came to spend one study year in the Seminary. After them students have been arriving each year until the end of the eighties. Coming from a capitalist, “unfriendly” country, the Dutch students have always been watched at by the Securitate (Secret Police) very carefully. Many informers were recruited from among the Reformed pastors as well as seminary professors to control the whole study process of the foreigners. The documents included into this paper are perfect samples of how the Secret Police usually acted.

Egypár bibliai párhuzamos helyre fogok utalni, amelyek esetleg elkerülik a prédikátorok figyelmét, vagy nem tulajdonítanak nekik jelentőséget. Dolgozatom első fejezetében ismertetni fogom a falu és az egyházközség rövid történetét, amelyhez hozzácsatolom, a bacai egyházközség leányegyházaként számon tartott, csicsómihályfalvi egyházközség rövid történeti összefoglalóját. A falu történetének összefoglalás után, rátérek az egyházközség történek felvázolására, amelyet elsősorban a jegyzőkönyvek segítségével fogok megtenni. Az átláthatóság kedvéért, az egyházközség történetének felvázolásában külön fejezetben fogom ismertetni az egyházközség történetét az 1740-1899-es évek között, és az 1900-as évektől napjainkig. A fejezetek keretén belül, külön alfejezetekben fogok értekezni az egyházközségben zajló lelki, szellemi életről, és az adott időszakban uralkodó gazdasági helyzetről, aminek során, külön tárgyalom az egyházközség bevételei és kiadásait.
