Examining Some Ethical Issues in the Context of War -- One of the main questions of this paper is whether the arguments in defence of war can be coupled with equal concern for the laws of war. While a permissive reading of the classical, theological just war tradition draws a number of conclu-sions that can be debated, this essay has attempted to draw attention to the fact that Augustine's questions of disordered political commitments (loves) are insep-arable from the more familiar questions of “right reason”, “right power” and “right intention”. Augustine’s reading reminds us that political desires still determine not only decisions to enter into armed conflict, but also the application of the inter-national law. On the one hand, politics is a means of influencing the dominant powers, a means of spreading their values, but also a means of holding them to account. It is also the voice of the oppressed and the vulnerable.

This paper examines the doctrine of justification in Heinrich Bullinger’s theology. The reformer wrote a commentary on the Gospel of John in 1543, the preface of which was ample and significant enough to be published in a separate edition with the title of that new work being Iustificatio. After the Reformation there were several debates on the doctrine of justification. The author and the publisher thought that it would be useful for the apologists to publish the work separately. Since then, this work has not been published as an integral translation, neither in German nor in English, or in other languages for that matter.

Jelen dolgozatunkban Heinrich Bullinger megigazulás-tanával foglalkoztunk. A reformátor 1543-ban írt egy János-kommentárt, aminek terjedelmes előszavában a megigazítást részletezte. Mivel a 16. században a különösen vitatott témák közé tartozott a megigazulás, ezt az előszót egy külön könyvecskében, füzetben is kiadták. A füzet tartalma ezidáig nem jelent meg magyar nyelven egységes formában. A tudomásunk szerinti egyetlen fordítás, vagy fordítás-próbálkozás Tőkés Istvánnak tulajdonítható. Ő, amikor a Bullinger egyéb műveiből vett idézetekkel magyarázta a Második Helvét Hitvallás című írásban megjelent fejezeteket, lefordított néhány részletet a Iustificatio című alkotásból is. A magyar egységes fordítás hiányában úgy gondoltuk, mindenképp foglalkoznunk kell ezzel a szöveggel. Munkánk során feltűnt, hogy Bullinger megigazulás-tanáról nagyon kevés forrás található a Bullinger-kutatásban, úgy a magyar, mint a német vagy angol, teológiailag vett értelemben fő nyelveken is.

A tanulmány záró részében a reformáció korszakából (Erasmus, Calvin, Bullinger, II. Helvét Hitvallás, Heidelbergi Káté, Szegedi Kis István) a legfontosabb dichotómikus és trichotomikus antropológiai modellek állnak, és a 20. századi antropológiai szemlélet szintézise a század teológiája (Karl Barth, Wolfhart Pannenberg, Cullmann Oscar, Sebestyén Jenő, Török István, Gaál Botond és mások). A történeti bemutatásra vonatkozó következtetést az antropológiai vizsgálatok eredményeinek más teológiai területekre való alkalmazására vonatkozó lehetőségek vizsgálata követte.

A Szentírás hitünk zsinórmértéke. Isten egyedüli Kijelentése Jézus Krisztus, Ő a mi üdvösségünk. Ezt egyedül a Szentírásban jelentette ki Isten. A reformáció kezdetének 490. évfordulóján hálát adunk Istennek, hogy olyan elődöket, hitvalló ősöket adott, akik a Szentírást hitünk zsinórmértékévé és életünk központjába tették.
