I invite the reader to take a journey into the theological world of two little treatises written by one of the most interesting ecclesiastical figures of the fifth century coming from the Antiochene tradition: Theodoret, Bishop of Cyrus.

Izráel Jahvéról alkotott képében központi helyet foglal el az a képzet, miszerint Jahve olyan Isten, aki ígéreteket tesz.1 Az Isten által tett számtalan ígéret között aligha találnánk még egy olyan elementáris hatással bírót a zsidó nép történetére és önértelmezésére nézve, mint amilyen a Kánaán földjének a birtokbavételére tett ígéret. Az Ígéret Földjének témája Izráel történetének kezdetétől, az első pátriárka, Ábrahám elhívásától folyamatosan jelenlévő motívumként szövi át Izráel népének önmagáról alkotott önéletrajzát, az egész Héber Bibliát.

Reinhold Niebuhr realizmusának egyik táptalaja az a valóság volt, amelyet Detroit társadalmában tapasztalt meg. A szegénység, a társadalmi problémák, a kizsákmányolás szöges ellentétben álltak azzal a derűlátó szemlélettel, amelyet az általa is olvasott liberális teológia tanított az ember állapotáról és a társadalomban rejlő lehetőségekről. A Detroitban töltött időszak radikálisan realistává tette etikai szemléletét is.

The purpose of this study is twofold. First, it sets the historical context in which Aphrahat wrote his Demonstrations and deals with the interesting relationship between his writings, ‘against the Jews’ and the Sassanian persecution of Christians. It also treats his refutation of the Jewish charges. Secondly, it addresses his ‘unique’ view of christology which is not in line with the Nicene decision concerning one aspect yet at the same time it is congruent with it. The paper also tries to point out that his view on christology was ‘unique’ but not exceptional in the Early Church.

In dieser Arbeit werde ich mit Dtn 32,1–43 bzw. mit der Perikope 32,1–10 beschäftigen, die den Namen „Moselied“ trägt. Die alttestamentliche Tradition hält dieses Kapitel für eine der letzten Reden des Mose, ein Testament des großen Volksführers.
