Pauszaniasznál olvashatjuk a Görögország leírása című művében, hogy Hellászban sok bámulatra méltó dolgot lehet látni, és sok csodáról lehet hallani. Ebben a tanulmányban mi most e sok csodát vizsgáljuk meg. Mondanunk sem kell, hogy nem vállalkozhatunk arra, hogy a görög (és római) világ minden csodájára vagy inkább minden típusú csodájára kitérünk. Elsősorban nem is annyira terjedelmi okok miatt, hanem azért, mert nem minden csodatípus tartozik érdeklődési körünkbe.

In his 1583 ritual entitled Agendarius, which was innovative in many respects in comparison to its Hungarian predecessors, Bishop Miklós Telegdi of Pécs, the administrator of the diocese of Esztergom, added sample-like sermons to the rituals of the administration of the sacraments accompanying the great turning points of life (viz. baptism, confirmation, wedding etc.). He was presumably guided chiefly by pastoral considerations. For the second edition of 1596 (published after Telegdi’s death), the editors added a second funeral sermon, clearly intended for a more educated, urban audience – judging from the scholarly Latin quotations and the general tone. A comparison of the structure and content of the two speeches provides useful conclusions as to what the ecclesiastical authorities of the time considered advisable to preach at the time of death to mourners lacking basic schooling and what to the more learned audience.

De meg kell emlékeznünk elhunytáról is annak 65. évében. Ebből az alkalomból tesszük közzé dr. Ravasz László (1882—1975) református püspök gyászbeszédének kézzel javított gépiratos szövegét. Ez a Dunamelléki Református Egyházkerület Ráday Levéltárában őrzött hagyatékában maradt fenn.

The purpose of the Epistle to the Hebrews. In this essay we argue that the particular purpose of Hebrews is obscure for the modern reader. It is clear, that it was addressed to a particular community that needed to be warned not to apostatize, not to turn away from Christianity. But no dogmatic conclusion can be reached on a more precise identification of the danger could consist in. The drift of the argument on the levitical cultus, the exhortations and argumentations from the exposition of so many Old Testament passages would possibly give weight to the theory that the danger was that of relapsing into Judaism, a theory held by numerous scholars. However, this is an inference, though reasonable. But each further step in order to identify the exact form of the apostasy to Judaism will be conjectural.

A kilencvenes évek második felére a független Horvátország területi integritása még nem állt helyre, a háborús állapot a mindennapokban egyre inkább háttérbe szorult. Szabadabbá vált a mozgás a független területek (pl. Eszék), az anyaország és a még mindig megszállt, de már ENSZ ellenőrzés alá vont területek között. Ismertté vált, hogy mely területek kerülnek Horvátországhoz, hogy milyen ütemben és milyen értékek alapján történik a rendeződés. Ez az egyházon belül is lehetővé tette a hosszabb távú tervezést.
