Pierre Abélard személye és munkássága több szempontból is színfoltot jelent a 11–12. században. Előadásomban egy kis szeletét szeretném körbejárni életművének: a két etikai művét vizsgálom. A Dialógus és az Etika is befejezetlen formában maradt ránk, viszont a szövegek elméleti jellegük mellett egy bábáskodó hangot is hallatnak, mely az Hadot-féle lelkigyakorlatra emlékeztethet bennünket. Mindennek fényében feltehetjük a kérdést: mi „hasznunk” származhat abból, ha dialógusra lépünk ezen szövegekkel?

Colecția Blaj a Bibliotecii Filialei Academiei Române din Cluj reprezintă un important vestigiu cultural al greco-catolicismului din Ardeal. Nucleul bibliotecii este format din colecția mănăstirii basilitane ctitorite în 1747 cu hramul Sfintei Treimi. În același an a început activitatea seminarului diecezan. Se pare că cele două instituții au avut o bibliotecă comună. Cărțile au fost inventariate pentru prima dată în 1752. Materialul prezentat face parte dintr-o cercetare mai amplă, care vizează descrierea operelor teologilor protestanți din secolul XVI păstrate în colecțiile istorice din Ardeal. În Colecția Blaj a Bibliotecii Filialei Cluj a Academiei Române se găsesc 421 de tipărituri din secolul XVI.

Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

Miklós Telegdi, a Roman Catholic bishop of the reformation period, was an important figure of his generation. The confessional guide of his Agendarius, first published in 1583 in nagyszombat (Trnava, now in Slovakia), is particular as to its structure and content. in Hungary, this is the first penitential guide that was written in a unique style, including vernacular parts and containing exhortations in a large number. The confessional includes a text discussing the strict obligation on the seal of confession as well as a confession mirror which, according to its genre, is a tool of individual self-examination. In my paper, I attempt to answer the question whether Telegdi’s confessional guide is only unique from a national point of view or also in a wider, international context.

Az 1560-as évek közepe táján és a második felében volt némi nyugodt időszak Szegedi életében, amikor alaposabban foglalkozhatott tudományos művei megírásával. A Locit is ekkor fejezhette be. És talán ekkor
fejezte be a másik terjedelmesebb munkáját is, amelyet alább ismertetünk: Tabulae analyticae, quibus exemplar illud sanorum sermonum de fide, charitate, et patientia, quid olim Prophetae, Evangelistae, Apostoli literis memoriaeque mandaverunt, fideliter declaratur.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.

A 18. századi református kollégiumi éneklés sajátos szerepet töltött be a magyar dal- és kórusirodalom történetének alakulásában. Bár az énektanításra és a zenei ismeretek elsajátítására már korábban is nagy hangsúlyt fektettek ezekben az iskolákban, mégis a 17. századi énekkarok megszervezésével, majd a Maróthi György által bevezetett többszólamú zsoltárénekléssel, az 1743-ban megjelentett Goudimel-féle négyszólamú zsoltároskönyv kiadásával új irányt vett az egyházi, ugyanakkor a világi magyar zenei élet is.

A reformáció ötszáz éves jubileumát övező nagyszabású emlékünnepélyek során gyakran elhangzott az a megállapítás, hogy ez az első olyan jellegű évforduló, amely az ökumené jegyében zajlott: a történelmi egyházak együtt idézték meg a reformáció kezdetét, a wittenbergi tézisek kibocsátását, és ugyanekkor az egyházzal együtt emlékezett a politikum is. Belelapozva a jubileumi ünnepségek történeti összefoglalóiba, végigkísérhetjük, hogy az adott korszakok vallási és politikai viszonyai milyen hatást gyakoroltak az egyes centenáriumi ünnepségekre. Az első ünneplő évszázadokban a nyomtatásban megjelenő ünnepi kiadványokat az erőteljes felekezetközi (protestáns-katolikus) polémia jellemezte.

A Jel 16,16 egy nevet is említ, amikor elbeszéli, hogy a Góg és Magóg népe azon a helyen gyülekezik háborúra, amit zsidóul „Harmagedon”-nak neveznek. Jelen tanulmányunkban erre a megnevezésre tekintünk, úgy, hogy először az ezzel kapcsolatos elméleteket foglaljuk össze, ezt követően pedig egy olyan alapvető szempontra hívjuk fel a figyelmet, amely úgy tűnik, hogy elkerülte a magyarázók figyelmét. Ez lehetőséget nyújthat arra, hogy jobban megértsük János gondolatainak hátterét, és közelebb kerüljünk Harmagedon titkának megértéséhez is.
