Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

Közismert, hogy Huszár Gál debreceni énekeskönyve (1560/61) a 16. századi magyar református istentiszteleti éneklés gazdag, kottás dallamközlései révén is megkerülhetetlen forrása. Most úgynevezett rubrikái, rövid, vagyis itt-ott hosszabb liturgikus utasításai kerülnek a vizsgálat középpontjába, amelyek egyrészt kirajzolják a korabeli istentisztelet lefolyását, másrészt tapinthatóvá teszik az egymást követő liturgikus pillanatok mind teológiai, mind érzelmi-poétikai értelemben vett tartalmát. Segítségükkel lehetővé válik az énekek istentiszteleti műfajok szerinti csoportosítása is. A tanulmány a jelenkori református istentisztelet régóta esedékes, reformátori szellemű megújításához kíván hozzájárulni, alapvetően fontos információkkal is, de az inspirációs bázis feltárásával is.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.

Bonhoeffer számára a „Másik” értelmezése döntőnek látszik az emberi valóság megragadása tekintetében. A kérdéskört hagyományos fogalmakat használva járja körül, de ugyanakkor arra is törekszik, hogy különböző módszerek használatával szélesítse e terminológiák tartalmát. Ehhez vagy egyszerűen csak a bibliai szövegek olvasása vagy egy egészen tág teológiai keret meghatározása révén törekszik eljutni. A szándék mindkettő esetében azonos: a „Másik”, az egyén krisztológiailag orientált értelmezése. A tanulmány ezt a módszert törekszik követni Bonhoeffer főbb művei alapján. A „Másik” értelmezése különböző témákkal való összefüggésben jelenik meg: a teremtéssel, a bűnnel, a Krisztusban való léttel és a másol közösségében megélt élettel. Az alapvető megközelítés ez: a „Másik” egy olyan korlátozás Isten kegyelmének összefüggésében, amely Krisztus jelenlétében tapasztalható meg.

"Szeresd felebarátodat." Az ősi parancs új értelmet és új töltetet nyer Jézus igehirdetésében, az apostolok, különösképpen Pál és János leveleiben, amelyekben régóta elfelejtett és mellőzött összefüggésekre derül fény. Az embertárs iránti szeretet parancsa a törvény lelke. Ha a mindenkori törvényértelmező ember2 tekintete elsiklik felette, ez életébe kerülhet. A betű ugyanis megöl, és a Lélek az, amely megelevenít (2Kor 3,6). Pál apostol ezért buzdít és tanít ekképpen: Senkinek se tartozzatok semmivel, csak azzal, hogy egymást szeressétek; mert aki a másikat szereti, betöltötte a törvényt. (Róm 13,8).

The second half of the 20th century can be characterised by a consolidation of all state structures of the Communist Party. The most important institution in keeping the power was the Secret Police (Securitate), which exercised a strict control over the Churches, including the Hungarian Reformed Church. The Securitate was mostly interested in the foreign contacts of the church. After the Second World War the Reformed Church has kept its contacts with the Reformed Churches in Hungary, as well as with many other Western European churches from the former West Germany, Holland, Switzerland, etc. The Secret Police’s purpose was to gather as many information as possible about the different contacts, and to control the whole issue.

During the Communist regime, in the sixties of the 20th century, the Protestant Theological Seminary started the student exchange program with churches and institutions from the Western part of Europe, mainly the Dutch Reformed Churches. It was in 1968 when the first Dutch couple came to spend one study year in the Seminary. After them students have been arriving each year until the end of the eighties. Coming from a capitalist, “unfriendly” country, the Dutch students have always been watched at by the Securitate (Secret Police) very carefully. Many informers were recruited from among the Reformed pastors as well as seminary professors to control the whole study process of the foreigners. The documents included into this paper are perfect samples of how the Secret Police usually acted.
