In this research, I have explored the theme of the immortality of the soul in the light of Plato's and Calvin's view of the soul. The work is divided into two major parts: in the first part, I examined Plato's and Calvin's view of the soul and the immortality of the soul, and in the second part, I compared the results of the first part. In the course of this research, I have discovered the similarities and differences in the details of the two conceptions. Eight units of thought were identified for the comparison and within these units, different themes were compared between the two conceptions. In the last point, one of the main questions of the topic was answered, namely whether the soul is immortal or impermanent. Although Plato and Calvin had different points of view, in the end the two concepts were the same: the soul is immortal.

Weather imagery plays a major role in Hosea. Hosea 2 recalls the image of an unfaithful wife; Hosea 4:2–3 describes the withering of the land; in 6:3; 10:12; 14:6, the several types of precipitation draw attention to the utterance of YHWH or the requested righteousness; in 9:10.13.16; 10:1; 13:5; 14:6.8, Israel is symbolised by different plants that blossom and wither, depending on their relation to Yhwh. In all of these instances, weather phenomena contribute to these images. In this article, I try to catalogue and evaluate the metaphors and concepts to look at how meteorological images convey theological and historical messages, and vice versa how historical events or sociological procedures demonstrate their consequences in nature, especially in the weather. It seems that weather imagery is used to describe the consequences of idolatry, injustice and false politics.

Ferencz József életét, munkásságát és teológiáját feldolgozó doktori dolgozatomban, amely az 1980-as évek második felében készült, tudatosan nem foglalkoztam a Baldácsy-alapítvány létrejöttének körülményeivel, tevékenységének értékelésével és jelentőségével, noha kutatásaim folyamán gyakran szembesültem ezekkel. Ez az alapítvány a magyar protestáns egyházak működését és támogatását volt hivatott elősegíteni a 19. század második felében. Ennek az a magyarázata, hogy a téma vonzáskörében olyan fogalmakkal szembesültem, mint a magyar protestáns és nemzeti egység, az unió, a keresztyén vallások egyetemessége, az úgynevezett „corpus evangelicorum” eszméjének szorgalmazása, a vallási szabadelvűség és sokszínűség érvényesítése, a reformok szükségessége a közügyekben, a magyar haza iránti elkötelezettség stb. Ezeket a fogalmakat, témaköröket és jelentéstartalmukat az akkori román ateista, kommunista, nacionalista hatalom nem tolerálta volna.

A Heidelbergi Káté születésének 450. évfordulójára szervezett konferenciánk jó alkalmat nyújt annak áttekintésére is, hogy a nagyváradi református vagy protestáns kötődésű nyomdászat mikor és milyen mértékben járult hozzá kátéirodalmunk gazdagításához, terjesztéséhez.
