Pavel din Tars a intrat în istoria creștinismului ca apostol al neamurilor. A fost un predicator neobosit și un învățător inspirat al Evangheliei lui Dumnezeu, care și-a îndeplinit misiunea cu cea mai mare fervoare și devotament necondiționat până la sfârșitul vieții sale. Cu povestea sa de viață fascinantă și cu experiența sa considerabilă în plantarea și consolidarea bisericilor creștine, el se află astăzi în fața noastră ca un om demn de atenția fiecărui slujitor. În ciuda unicității sale, el ne stă înainte în multe feluri ca un exemplu de înțelepciune, sobrietate, puritate, răbdare, altruism, moderație, fidelitate și dragoste frățească sinceră.

The Book of Habakkuk is well-known for using a very sophisticated language in terms of semantics, poetics, or rhetorical structure, causing tremendous difficulties to later interpreters, both ancient and modern. For this reason, from a diachronic perspective, textual deviations from the canonical Massoretic tradition could be mere relics of the perplexity of confused translators or scribes. This study argues, however, that there are cases where the independent, divergent textual traditions coalesce into a reading that could be considered a historically more reliable variant than the reading survived within the Massoretic Text. This appears to be the case with בגוים in Hab 1:5 and היין in Hab 2:5, for which three independent traditions presuppose a common pre-Massoretic ancient alternative reading.

This volume contains selected papers from the broader field of History of Christian Doctrines, and more specifically from Patristics and Reformation studies, but also from the border between them. Most of them were written in the academic year 2014-2015, during my MA studies in the field of Patristics at the Theological University of the (vrijgemaakt) Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, in Kampen. The main topic of the MA programme was the Baptism in the Early Church, therefore the most of these papers presents various aspects of this question. In the following few paragraphs I will present short summary of each paper from this volume.

Ebben a tanulmányban két olyan vitatott szövegrészt vizsgálok meg Habakuk könyvéből (Habakuk 1,5 és 2,5), ahol a Masszoréta Szövegnél korábbi verziók egy, a masszoréta hagyománynál korábbi szövegvariánsba engednek betekintést. Az elemzésben Habakuk könyvének két legrégebbi tanúját hívom segítségül, a Septuagintát és a qumráni Habakuk pešert (illetve elemzem a hasonló irányba mutató szír Pesittát is). Az elemzésre kerülő szövegrészek esetében nagy valószínűséggel nem kései, hanem korai olvasatokról kell beszélnünk.

A 'Protestáns Szemle' [...] az egyházi életműködés minden ágát felölelő vagy azzal érintkező tudományok mezején búvárkodik, fejteget vagy vitáz: ezt az alapelvet igyekszik szem előtt tartani és attól – legalább szándékosan s öntudatosan – nem akar eltérni. Azért, egyfelől a maga körében, t. i. a magyar protestáns felekezet körében, az egy alapon álló árnyalatok közt az eszmecserék s tárgyilagos vitatkozásnak szabad tért nyit s az ellennézeteket, csak tudományos érvekkel jőjjenek, meghallgatja, elfogadja, értékük szerint méltányolja. De nem szorítkozva csak a magunk szűk körére, tért nyit a külföldi protestáns egyházi élet s tudományos mozgalmak minden általános érdekű jelenségeinek s azokat részint ismertetőleg, részint vitatólag fogja olvasói elé hozni....
