This paper is an expanded and somewhat more elaborated version of an earlier study in which I tried to give a general overview on the word-usage concerning the passion of Jesus Christ in the early Christian creeds. The purpose of this short paper is in part to give a comparative presentation of the sufferings of Lord Jesus Christ in the Western Creeds, and in part I also try to define the role of mentioning the name of Pontius Pilatus in them.

This is a study of Isaiah 18-20, three chapters in the so-called Isaianic prophecies concerning the nations, Isaiah 13-23 (24-27). Beyond being located close to each other in this literary corpus, there is at least one common element that ties these three chapters together: Isaiah 18-20 deal with two neighbouring countries of the Nile, Kush and Egypt respectively. The two lands were politically closely related in the era of the prophet Isaiah, so that addressing them in proximity to each other should not be surprising in a book set in the period of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah (Isaiah 1:1). Through a detailed analysis of the three chapters I hope to contribute to a better understanding of the collection of prophecies on the nations in the book of Isaiah and, more remotely, of the wider phenomenon of prophecies concerning the nations, so prevalent in the Hebrew Bible.

Naast de sporadische expliciete verwijzingen naar de receptie van de profetie door andere profeten in een latere tijd zijn er een aantal indirecte bewijzen met betrekking tot het onderlinge verband tussen de profetische teksten. Het doel van deze bijdrage is om de aanwezigheid en functie van de traditie te onderzoeken binnen de zogenaamde volkenprofetieën; dat wil zeggen: profetieën die gaan over de vreemde volken rondom Israël. De vraag is in hoeverre de profeten zich van andere volkenprofetieën bewust waren, hoe die traditie in hun eigen boodschap een rol speelde, en hoe die traditie zich tot de nieuwe context verhoudt.

Tíz éve hunyt el Sass Kálmánné Tőkés Mária, és ez alkalommal ismét meghatódva keresem a család szétszórt, erőszakosan szétvert emlékeit. Sass Kálmán (Gálospetri, 1904. április 17. – Szamosújvár, 1958. december 2.) kivégzésével családja életútját is megbélyegezték. Aztán némasági zárlatot rendeltek el és bárddal rontották a család jó hírnevét. A feleség és családanya lelki arcának kutatása közben üvegbe zárt történelemről és elhurcolt Aranykönyv híréről olvashattam. A Tőkés László püspök által Amerikából hazahozott füzetet lapozva, a svájci Welti asszony kis adattára örvendeztetett meg. A gálospetri tájházból egy olyan Sass Kálmán írta levél híre érkezett, amely eddig ismeretlen volt előttem, és emellett számos új anyakönyvi adat az érmihályfalvi lelkészek jóvoltából. Családfák tanulmányozása pedig elkerülhetetlen, mert az eddigi közlések néha elírásokat tartalmaznak.

Sass Kálmán (Gálospetri, 1904 – Szamosújvár, 1958) írásbeli hagyatékának pontos és részletes feldolgozása még várat magára, de eljött az ideje annak, hogy elkezdjük ennek számbavételét, és a hiány pótlása érdekében legalább tájékoztatásképpen soroljuk ezeket. Miután kivégezték, egyházi és tudományos munkásságának nyomait teljesen száműzték a közéletből, a könyvtárakból pedig írásait haladék nélkül eltávolították, amelyeknek – ismerve a hajdani kommunista diktatúra észjárását – már a címük is jelzi a szigorúan tiltottá vált témákat.

Sztálin halála után a szovjet blokkhoz tartozó kommunista államok egyházi politikája fokozatosan megváltozott. 1955-ben Márton Áron, a halálra ítélt római katolikus püspök kiszabadult a börtönből, és sok más pap, szerzetes és miniszter mentesült. A romániai magyar protestáns egyházak kapcsolatba léphetnek a apácák templomaival Magyarországon és a világon. Az útlevelek megszerzésére vonatkozó egyszerűsített igazgatási eljárás után az emberek külföldre utaznak és kapcsolatokat építhetnek ki.

In this short paper I would like to provide a comparative analysis of the passages concerning the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Early Christian confessions (among them the Apostolic Creed1 as well), because these passages are frequently the source of theological misunderstanding and debates. The main question which urged me to do this research had occurred in relation with the Apostolic Creed. How do we say correctly: ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’ or ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, under Pontius Pilate He was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’? I shall try to answer this question by analysing the relevant passages of the creeds which were composed in the first six centuries.

Der Stele Jahves. Sammlungen von Fremdvölkersprüchen in den prophetischen Schriften des Alten Testaments. In der heutigen Prophetenforschung wurde die Frage nach der Entstehung der Prophetenbücher zentralgestellt. Vornehmliche Andacht haben dabei die kleineren Kollektionen dieser Bücher gewonnen. Die vorliegende Studie ist den theologischen und literarischen Aspekten der Sammlungen von Fremdvölkersprüchen in den Büchern der Propheten Amos, Jesaja, Jeremia, Ezechiel und Zephaniah gewidmet. Hier wurde die Frage nach dem theologischen Prinzip dieser Kollektionen gestellt, und zwar auf Kollektionsebene und auf Buchebene. Welcher Gedanke hält die verschiedenen Fremdvölkersprüche zusammen und welcher bestimmt den Platz der Kollektionen in dem Buch, in dem sie jetzt stehen? Wie weit kann man ein gemeinsames theologisches Ordnungsprinzip hinter den Sammlungen der verschiedenen Bücher aufweisen, und wie weit sind diese Kollektionen buchspezifisch?

A szó keresztyén értelmében, globálisan látom és vallom, hogy a 20. és 21. század fordulóján általánosnak tekinthető a politikusok, szociológusok és pszichológusok egyházi vezetőkkel megosztott véleménye abban, hogy az emberek tömeges mozgása, a következő évek, évtizedek egyik legégetőbb problémájává válhat.
