In his 1583 ritual entitled Agendarius, which was innovative in many respects in comparison to its Hungarian predecessors, Bishop Miklós Telegdi of Pécs, the administrator of the diocese of Esztergom, added sample-like sermons to the rituals of the administration of the sacraments accompanying the great turning points of life (viz. baptism, confirmation, wedding etc.). He was presumably guided chiefly by pastoral considerations. For the second edition of 1596 (published after Telegdi’s death), the editors added a second funeral sermon, clearly intended for a more educated, urban audience – judging from the scholarly Latin quotations and the general tone. A comparison of the structure and content of the two speeches provides useful conclusions as to what the ecclesiastical authorities of the time considered advisable to preach at the time of death to mourners lacking basic schooling and what to the more learned audience.

The role of group work in teacher education. This essay deals with the role and importance of psychological group work with special regard to teachers’ professional development. In the last few decades a new view of the way teachers should be educated emerged, in which more attention was directed towards the person of the teacher. The real self image and self-knowledge is important for religion teachers when we take into account that they are especially expected to be empathic, authentic and able to accept the others. After we had investigated that the actual curriculum of the Faculty for Teachers of Religion provides hardly any programmes which aim to develop students’ selfknowledge, we tried to work out a programme which would help the healthy development of students’ personal and professional self.

Míg azonban a bibliai régészet ószövetségi vonatkozásaival számos kutató foglalkozott, és erről a területről nagy mennyiségű anyag áll az olvasó rendelkezésére, ezzel szemben e tudományág újszövetségi vonatkozásaival alig néhány személy foglalkozott, s míg tanulmányaik nagyrészt angol, német és francia nyelven jelentek meg, addig magyar nyelven kevés ilyen tanulmány látott napvilágot. Ezt az űrt szándékszik a jelen dolgozat valamelyest betölteni azzal, hogy egy körülbelül kétszáz éves időszakot (J.e. 100‒J.u. 100) átölelve, azon régészeti leletekre szándékszik koncentrálni, amelyek legmeghatározóbbnak tűnnek, és amelyek az olvasó számára valamilyen segítséget nyújthatnak abban, hogy a világot megváltoztató I. századi korszak eseményeit megértse.

Dolgozatomban ízelítőt szeretnék nyújtani a homiletikának erről a számunka oly távolinak tűnő, de sok újdonságot, érdekességet és a magyar unitárius homiletikával számos hasonlóságot tartalmazó oldaláról. A négy nagy fejezet során röviden ismertetni szeretném az amerikai unitárius univerzalista vallás és ezen belül a XX. századi amerikai unitárius homiletika történetét, egy ismertetőt szeretnék nyújtani az ehhez fűződő unitárius istentisztelet részeiről, formáiról, valamint elméletéről és dolgozatom központi elemeként meg szeretném ismertetni az óceánon túli prédikációírás és –mondás rejtelmeit. Végül, mivel, ahogy látni fogja a kedves olvasó a homiletikát nem lehet elválasztani a liturgikától, dolgozatomba liturgikai elemeket is beépítettem, ezekkel próbálva egy világosabb képet nyújtani arról, hogy mi képezi az amerikai unitárius vallás alapját.
