Not all pastor's children remain close to the Church, despite the fact that they grew up in a religious environment and had the example and model of Christian living. The theoretical objective of my thesis is to explore pastor's children's motivations for living a pious life. For there can be external and internal motivation. The external motivation is when the pastor's child practices godly living and godly speaking, but not from an internal motivation, not from faith. They are not living a godly lifestyle because they feel they need to and because it is of value to them, but they are just living up to expectations. They behave and speak as expected by their parents, their congregation or their environment. They live godly lives either for external recognition and reward, such as the recognition of the church community or the pride of their parents, or perhaps to earn God's approval.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the extent to which the elusive postmodern zeitgeist influences ordinary people's faith in God, their relationship to the church, and the congregational demands of the Christian church. It also seeks to answer how far the teachings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the influential theologian who was martyred during World War II, can respond to these congregational needs. The topicality of the paper lies in its aim to provide a systematic theological framework for Reformed congregational pastors and members, with the aim of providing them with a theoretical basis for confronting postmodern problems. One such problem may be the scepticism and relativism that is characteristic of postmodernism and that is present in the life of the average church member today. A further challenge for the church may be the change in postmodern language and the isolation of individuals from one another.

Mint a XX. században is, a hagyományos egyházaknak a XXI. században új kihívásokkal kell szembenézniük. A modern kor ember már nem elégszik meg az egyház szigorú és kötött tanaival és vallási gyakorlataival. Gyakran a közösség helyett az egyéni boldogulást keresi, a való munka, helyett az én felemelkedésére törekszik. Az 1960-as évektől egyre gyakrabban lehetett hallani, hogy valaki spirituális, de nem vallásos, a 90-es évektől már gyakoribb a reflexió erre a kijelentésre. Míg több ezer évig a vallás és spiritualitás kéz a kézben járt, úgy tartozott össze, mint forma és tartalom, mint tanrendszer és megélés, a XX. század második felétől ez a magától értetődőség egyre problematikusabbá vált. Két fő álláspont jelent meg a század végére: a vallás mint a hit és a gyakorlat intézményi keretben rögzített és ellenőrzött rendszere az egyik oldalon, míg a másikon a hit és a gyakorlat lazább, kreatívabb, nyitottabb, az egyénnek a maga módján megélt „lelkisége”.

Magiszteri dolgozatom témája az árpástói református egyházközség története. Ennek keretén belül kitérek településtörténeti adatok ismertetésére, mely során bemutatásra kerül Árpástó rövid monográfiája, a település nevének eredete és változata, földrajzi fekvése, etnikai és felekezeti megoszlása, a települést érintő legendák és szájhagyomány útján terjedő információk titokzatossága, valamint az ősi hagyományok értéke.

A halál, a temetés témája, mondhatni tabu kérdés, bár nap, mint nap halnak meg emberek és végeznek temetési szertartásokat a lelkészek. Az egyházban mégis keveset beszélünk a halálról, a meghalásról. Igehirdetésekben is ritkán fordul elő. Talán ennek is tudható be, hogy a népi hiedelemvilágban még mindig sokféle elképzelés él, ezekről a kérdésekről. Mi a halál, mi a meghalás? Mit jelent a keresztény temetési szertartás és annak egyes rítusai?
