Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.

Sok szövegben úgy jelenik meg Izrael, mint a világ többi népe közül kiválasztott nemzet, aki az ő Istenével egy kizárólagos utazásra váltott menetjegyet. Egy toleranciára épülő társadalom akár veszélyesnek is tekintheti ezt az enkláveteológiát, főként akkor, ha az itt megjelenített szövegeket és szemléletmódot valaki a mai társadalomra nézve is irányadónak tekintené. Minden olyan modern teológiai intézménynek, amelynek tanrendjében a bibliai hagyományok nem csupán vallástörténeti dokumentumként jelennek meg, hanem a normatív corpus részeként, foglalkoznia kell e szövegek által felvetett problémával. Mert pontosan ez a mérvadó jelleg az, amely miatt az a szöveggyűjtemény problémássá válhat. Éppen azok a modern olvasók, akik különböző mértékben ráhangolódnak az Ószövetség lelkületére, nehezen tudják összebékíteni e szövegek normatív jellegét a modern tolerancia és emberi méltóság eszméivel.

Ritka, hogy elődeink ilyen sok, szám szerint 4, egymástól igencsak különböző történelmi korszakot éltek át. Nekem most itt Musnai László életéről és munkásságáról kell megemlékeznem. Nem sokat kellett elmélkednem afelett, hogy miként különítsem el életének egyes korszakait, mert a történelem megtette helyettem.

Erőss Lajos, a méltatlanul elfeledett dogmatikus és püspök emlékét néhány utcanév őrzi Debrecenben, valamint Püspökladányban, ahol az általános iskola névadója is lett. Erőss Lajos a Debreceni Református Kollégiumban tanult. A lelkipásztori szolgálatban eltöltött évei után ismét visszakerült az alma mater falai közé. A dogmatikatanári katedráról a lehető legnagyobb tudással igyekezett felvértezni diákjait a lelkipásztori szolgálatra. Rövid időn belül pedig a Tiszántúli Református Egyházkerület püspökének választották meg. Hirtelen bekövetkezett halála után ránk maradt befejezetlen életműve lehet oka annak, hogy élete és munkássága feldolgozatlan maradt. Ennek rendszerezése, értékeinek felmutatása pedig az utókorra vár.

A kolozsvári Ev. Ref. Theologiai Fakultás történetét olvasva, alig találunk utalást arra, hogy már megnyitása előtt volt egy tanára, aki kiküldetésben Nagyenyeden tanított, és nem érte meg a kolozsvári intézet tényleges felállítását, amelynek talán igazgatói székét is elnyerhette volna. Berde Sándor ez a mindössze négy esztendeig tanárként szolgáló teológus.

Canaanite Abominations as Presented in the Book of Deuteronomy. A Theological Evaluation. Before entering in the Promised Land the people of Israel were told not to follow the forbidden practices of the polytheistic nations (Deut 18, 9–14), to avoid all kinds of magical and superstitious practices designed to discover the will of gods, or even to compel the gods to action in certain ways. The occult, superstitions, divinisation, sorcery, spiritualism were abominations all to Yahweh and brought about His judgment. Yahweh made His will known through revelation, by the aid of His prophets, whose words would be clearly understandable to the people in contrast with the ambiguous and mysterious spells of those who worked with magic and divinisation. Israel must be blameless in regard to every form of divinisation, magic or spiritism.
