Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.

Ez a tanulmány Jób 29,18 fordítási kérdéseit vizsgálja. A szerző szerint az említett vers így fordítandó: „És mondtam: fészkemben halok meg, és [addig,] mint a homokot/mint a főnix, megsokasítok napokat.” A Héber Biblia szövege egyszerre hordozza mindkét szemémát − miközben a masszoréták egyértelműsíteni igyekeztek, egyúttal igazolták az általuk el nem fogadott jelentés valószínűségét is. Továbbá megállapíthatjuk, hogy valamely mű – jelen esetben a Héber Biblia – és az azt értelmező közösség intertextualitásában természetes a szöveg által előidézett konnotációkkal történő kísérletezés szándéka, főként a szerzők részéről. Ha a Jób könyve szerzőjének annak idején nem állt szándékában kiaknázni az itt felismert kettős jelentés lehetőségét (bár nem zárhatjuk ki, hogy ismerhette a főnixlegendát), akkor itt a talhinnak olyan esetét kell látnunk, amelyet a recepció alakított ki.

Ernst Käsemann Egy őskeresztyén keresztelési liturgia címmel írt komoly tanulmányt a Kol 1,15 skk-ről, 1 és ebben úgy értelmezte a perikópa Krisztus-himnuszát, mint amely feltételezhetően keresztelési liturgia lehetett, s ugyanakkor ehhez rendkívül érdekes vallástörténeti párhuzamokat sorakoztatott fel, illetve tárgyalt. Azonban a tanulmány végső következtetése nem is annyira a keresztelésre, mint inkább az óember megöldöklésének és az új ember felöltözésének folyamatára, s ezen belül arra a „hatalmi váltásra” irányult, amely azzal következik be, hogy a keresztelés eldönti a hívőkké lettek kapcsolatát a hatalmakkal, vagyis azt, hogy kiszabadulnak a hatalmak uralma alól. Természetesen ez is hozzátartozik perikópánk gondolatköréhez, de ez sokkal határozottabban és markánsabban foglalkozik a keresztelés tényével és hatásmechanizmusával. Ezért most főleg erre szeretném fordítani a figyelmet.
