This paper is an expanded and somewhat more elaborated version of an earlier study in which I tried to give a general overview on the word-usage concerning the passion of Jesus Christ in the early Christian creeds. The purpose of this short paper is in part to give a comparative presentation of the sufferings of Lord Jesus Christ in the Western Creeds, and in part I also try to define the role of mentioning the name of Pontius Pilatus in them.

Teológusoknak, igehirdetőknek, mindnyájunknak éreznünk kell, hogy a barthi teológia erdélyi elfogadása nem a teológiai tudományágak egyikét-másikát érinti, hanem az egész teológiát. Akkor is így van, ha ez ma már csupán szellemtörténeti vagy tudománytörténeti eseménynek látszik. Hatásával akkor is számolnunk kell, ha egyesek ma már magát a kérdést időszerűtlennek látják.

E szokatlannak tűnő cím arra az ez ideig feldolgozatlan teológiai-társadalmi kérdésre utal, melyből kitűnik, hogy a 20. századnak talán páratlan tekintélyű teológusa, Karl Barth miképpen viszonyult 1940-ben az erdélyi magyar, illetve a magyar erdélyi határváltozáshoz, más szóval: az akkori Észak- és Dél-Erdély történelmi adottságához.
