Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.

Ez a tanulmány elsősorban azt igyekszik feltárni és kielemezni, hogy az első felelős magyar kormány milyen hatást gyakorolt az egyházi életre és a felekezetekre. Ehhez leginkább a Pesti Hírlap 1848-as számai használnak forrásként, mint amelyek írott és hiteles adatokat közölnek a korról.

Erdélyi felekezeti tanintézetekben a 19. század első felében válnak ki a polihisztor tanárok közül azok, akik már inkább a reál-természettudományi tárgyakra szakosodnak. Ők a külföldi tanulmányútjuk alatt is a nyugati egyetemeken ilyen irányú előadásokat hallgattak, esetleg orvosi diplomát szereztek. Kolozsvárt három rangos tanintézetben is folyt matematikaoktatás. A Református Kollégiumban Méhes György és fia, Sámuel a kor színvonalán tanítottak. Az Unitárius Kollégiumban nem kisebb tudós, mint Brassai Sámuel adta elő a matematikát. Ő azonban a matematikának inkább csak tanára volt tudományos eredményeket más szakterületeken ért el. Így Erdély első két nagy matematikusát nem Kolozsvár valamelyik tanintézete, hanem a marosvásárhelyi Református Kollégium adta Erdélynek. De hogy pályájuk elindulhatott, abban Kolozsvárnak is szerep jutott.

Levéltárak, tékák mélyén, múzeumok féltett polcain lapul még néhány példány abból az énekeskönyvből, amelyet mintegy 70 évig használtak Erdélyben. Fontos megjegyeznünk, hogy a Magyarország területéről 1918-ban leszakadt részekből a nagybányai, a szatmári és a szilágysági egyházmegyék egyes gyülekezetei, amelyek azelőtt az Erdélyi Református Egyházkerülethez tartoztak, szintén ezt az énekeskönyvet használták. Az 1908-as, Seprődi János által szerkesztett új énekeskönyv, valamint ennek 1909-es és 1911-es kiadásai, illetve az 1923-as erdélyi kiadás természetes módon váltotta fel ezt az énekeskönyvet az említett gyülekezetekben is.
