I invite the reader to take a journey into the theological world of two little treatises written by one of the most interesting ecclesiastical figures of the fifth century coming from the Antiochene tradition: Theodoret, Bishop of Cyrus.

Erdély sokoldalú polihisztorának életművében szerves részt képez kiterjedt levelezése. Ezek a levelek apró részletekben egyaránt rámutatnak a levelezőtársak mindennapjainak társadalmi, közösségi és gyakran egyéni, családi gondjaira, és így lehetőséget adnak mintegy belülről szemlélni mind a kort, mind a személyek gondolkodásmódját és kapcsolatainak működését. A továbbiakban Kós Károly hat, eddig publikálatlan levelét teszem közzé, amelyeknek címzettje dr. Gönczy Lajos teológiai tanár.

Adorjáni Zoltán, lapunk főszerkesztője 60 éves. Vezérigének Sámuel mondását választottam, mert úgy érzem, illik az alkalomhoz. Mert mi is van ebben az igeversben? A próféta visszatekint és leltárt készít. Visszatekint a megtett útra, és elégedetten nyugtázza, hogy az Úr mindvégig mellette állt. A „mindeddig” pedig azt jelzi, hogy az útnak nincs vége, a folyamat nem zárult le. Ez itt legfeljebb csak pihenő, meg-/felszusszanás.

The purpose of this study is twofold. First, it sets the historical context in which Aphrahat wrote his Demonstrations and deals with the interesting relationship between his writings, ‘against the Jews’ and the Sassanian persecution of Christians. It also treats his refutation of the Jewish charges. Secondly, it addresses his ‘unique’ view of christology which is not in line with the Nicene decision concerning one aspect yet at the same time it is congruent with it. The paper also tries to point out that his view on christology was ‘unique’ but not exceptional in the Early Church.

Freude aus der Verheissung des Evangeliums – Pfarrdienst in Diaspora und Volkskirche – so lautet das Thema unserer Tagung. Wenn man mich vor fünfundvierzig Jahren, als ich mein Theologiestudium abschloss, mit diesem Thema konfrontiert hätte, so hätte ich gesagt. Ja, selbstverständlich! Ich freute mich auf den Dienst in meiner Kirche. Ich wollte das Evangelium verkündigen. Wir waren damals von der Bibel und von der Theologie Rudolf Bultmanns geprägt, ein bisschen hatten wir auch von Karl Barth mitbekommen. Ich wollte damals nur eines: Pfarrer werden in meiner Kirche, der Evangelisch-Reformierten Landeskirche des Kantons Zürich in der Schweiz.
