This volume contains selected papers from the broader field of History of Christian Doctrines, and more specifically from Patristics and Reformation studies, but also from the border between them. Most of them were written in the academic year 2014-2015, during my MA studies in the field of Patristics at the Theological University of the (vrijgemaakt) Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, in Kampen. The main topic of the MA programme was the Baptism in the Early Church, therefore the most of these papers presents various aspects of this question. In the following few paragraphs I will present short summary of each paper from this volume.

Amikor 1905-ben Max Weber legismertebb munkája, A protestáns etika és a kapitalizmus szelleme megjelent, aligha volt véletlen, hogy a szerző a protestáns etika legfontosabb jellegzetességeit a kálvinizmusban találta meg. Természetesen fogalmazott úgy, hogy a régi protestáns etika és a kapitalizmus szellemének fejlődése közötti viszony vizsgálatában Kálvin, a kálvinizmus és más puritán szekták alkotásaiból fogunk kiindulni.

Heinz Schlaffer (Elhotten, 1939) stuttgarti emeritus professzor Die kurze Geschichte der deutschen Literatur című másfél száz oldalas irodalomtör­téneti esszéje még a kiadás évében, 2002-ben került a kezembe egy németországi konferencia alkalmával, s útban hazafelé a vonaton egy lélegzetre el is ol­ vastam. A kissé provokatív tartalmú, briliáns stílusú írás akkor annyira lenyűgözött, hogy elhatároztam, a kis kötetet itthon ismertetem.
