Habacuc 2:4 este un text de o importanță majoră pentru teologia apostolului Pavel. Avem de-a face însă cu un text extrem de dificil (o constatare valabilă de altfel pentru întreaga carte a profetului Habacuc), iar traducerile – sau mai degrabă parafrazele – din edițiile de Biblie sau comentarii reprezintă doar variații interpretative ale textului ebraic. Acest studiu este dedicat impactului și interpretării lui Habacuc 2:4b, în special a conceptului credinței, pentru literatura teologică din epoca Reformei.

Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.

I invite the reader to take a journey into the theological world of two little treatises written by one of the most interesting ecclesiastical figures of the fifth century coming from the Antiochene tradition: Theodoret, Bishop of Cyrus.

Pál apostol nyomán Habakuk 2:4 a keresztyén teológia egyik kulcsfontosságú szövege, amelyre az Újszövetség három alkalommal konkrétan hivatkozik. A reformáció korában, amikor a hit általi megigazulás újra a teológiai figyelem középpontjába kerül, ez a szövegrész, illetve ennek újszövetségi referenciái ismét jelentős szerephez jutnak. A tanulmány rámutat arra, hogy Hab 2:4 héber szövegének eltérő értelmezése milyen következményekkel járt a két nagy reformátor, Luther Márton és Kálvin János hit-értelmezésére nézve. Hab 2:4 reformátori olvasatának elemzése rávilágít ugyanakkor a (nyugati) keresztyén hagyomány egy másik kardinális problémájára is. A hit általi megigazulás kérdésében a héber szöveg alapján igyekszik egy olyan kérdést tisztázni, amely valójában a görög szöveghez (a Septuagintára hagyatkozó páli értelmezéshez) kötődik.

A szabad akarat és eleve elrendelés feloldhatatlan feszültségéről tengernyi irodalom született. Már az ókori filozófusokat is foglalkoztatta ez a kérdés. A bölcsészet eszköztárából kölcsönzött fogalmak segítségével számos keresztyén teológus is kifejtette meglátásait ebben a témában az évszázadok során. Jelenlegi munkánk ki szeretne ragadni három híres jelenetet ebből a máig elhúzódó drámából. Betekintést szeretnénk nyerni Augustinus és Pelagius, Luther és Eramus, illetve Barth és Brunner vitáiba az emberi szabad akarat és az isteni predestináció kérdésében. Nem kimondottan ismertetni akarjuk ezeket az összecsapásokat, hiszen ezekről a vitákról már könyvtárnyi irodalom nyugszik számos magára valamit is adó teológus vagy filozófus könyvespolcán.
