The aim of this thesis is to examine the extent to which the elusive postmodern zeitgeist influences ordinary people's faith in God, their relationship to the church, and the congregational demands of the Christian church. It also seeks to answer how far the teachings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the influential theologian who was martyred during World War II, can respond to these congregational needs. The topicality of the paper lies in its aim to provide a systematic theological framework for Reformed congregational pastors and members, with the aim of providing them with a theoretical basis for confronting postmodern problems. One such problem may be the scepticism and relativism that is characteristic of postmodernism and that is present in the life of the average church member today. A further challenge for the church may be the change in postmodern language and the isolation of individuals from one another.

Dolgozatom a marosi református egyházmegye 1815-ös jegyzőkönyveinek a vizsgálatával foglalkozik. Elsősorban arra voltam kíváncsi, hogy milyen volt az esperesi vizitáció a XIX. század elején, és miben tér el ettől a mostani vizitációs eljárás. Munkámban leginkább a bizottság működésére fókuszáltam, de hangsúlyt fektettem arra is, hogy bemutassam az adott kor legfontosabb történelmi eseményeit. Kutatásom során sikerült kontextusában meglátnom azokat az eseményeket, amelyek a XIX. századi eseményeket előidézték. Elolvastam és digitalizáltam a marosi református egyházmegye vizitációs jegyzőkönyveinek egy részét az 1815-ös év első feléből. 

Jelen munkában Aranyszájú János zsidóellenes igehirdetéseinek teológiai vonatkozásait vizsgáljuk. Az egyházatya igehirdetéseinek visszhangja nem csak kora hallgatóságát nyűgözte le, hanem a későbbiekben sokakban ellenszenvet keltett. A modern teológia egyik kérdésévé vált, hogy a zsidóellenes igehirdetések antiszemita tartalommal bírnak-e, vagy sem. Úgy tűnik, hogy a választ nem a IV. századi egyház álláspontja alapján kell keresnünk. A dolgozatban jelenkori vitákat is megvizsgálunk, amelyek azt a kérdést feszegetik, hogy számonkérhető-e Jánoson az a következmény, amit a XX. század egyik legrémisztőbb
eseményeként, Shoa-ként ismerünk.
