Dolgozatomban a prozelitizmus kérdéskörét kutatom. Főként az ószövetségi „jövevény” (gér) és intertestamentális kori prozelita (proszelüthosz) fogalmakkal foglalkozom. Fő kérdésem a témával kapcsolatban, hogy milyen megítélése volt a prozelitáknak a zsidó és nem zsidó társadalmon belül az említett időszakokban. Ugyanakkor vizsgálom a prozelita jog és betérés kérdéskörét is. Dolgozatom első részében azokat az ószövetségi helyeket vizsgáltam meg, amelyekben megjelennek a görög „prozelita” szóval megfeleltethető héber (gér, gerim) kifejezések. Elsősorban a kifejezések vallási és jogi tartalmára fordítottam a figyelmet. Az intertestamentális kori források, amelyek a kutatás fő részét képezik, a Kr.e. első század két meghatározó zsidó szerzőjének Alexandriai Philón és Josephus Flavius munkáira alapoznak. A prozelita jog és a prozelita kultuszi élet meghatározására a rabbinikus irodalom, főként a babiloni és palesztin Talmud nyújt kiindulási alapot.

This volume contains selected papers from the broader field of History of Christian Doctrines, and more specifically from Patristics and Reformation studies, but also from the border between them. Most of them were written in the academic year 2014-2015, during my MA studies in the field of Patristics at the Theological University of the (vrijgemaakt) Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, in Kampen. The main topic of the MA programme was the Baptism in the Early Church, therefore the most of these papers presents various aspects of this question. In the following few paragraphs I will present short summary of each paper from this volume.

The purpose of this study is twofold. First, it sets the historical context in which Aphrahat wrote his Demonstrations and deals with the interesting relationship between his writings, ‘against the Jews’ and the Sassanian persecution of Christians. It also treats his refutation of the Jewish charges. Secondly, it addresses his ‘unique’ view of christology which is not in line with the Nicene decision concerning one aspect yet at the same time it is congruent with it. The paper also tries to point out that his view on christology was ‘unique’ but not exceptional in the Early Church.
