Not all pastor's children remain close to the Church, despite the fact that they grew up in a religious environment and had the example and model of Christian living. The theoretical objective of my thesis is to explore pastor's children's motivations for living a pious life. For there can be external and internal motivation. The external motivation is when the pastor's child practices godly living and godly speaking, but not from an internal motivation, not from faith. They are not living a godly lifestyle because they feel they need to and because it is of value to them, but they are just living up to expectations. They behave and speak as expected by their parents, their congregation or their environment. They live godly lives either for external recognition and reward, such as the recognition of the church community or the pride of their parents, or perhaps to earn God's approval.

After the First World War, the Hungarians in Transylvania were faced with a new situation. However, in spite of the initial difficulties and challenges, the change of the external empire and the change of the internal empire became inevitable. The passivity of the early years was gradually replaced in the 1920s by active politicking, self-determination and path- finding. The churches, and in Transylvania in particular the Transylvanian Reformed Church and its leading leaders and thinkers, played a significant role in this search for a new way forward. As Dezső László put it, “In the nation we find the fullest and most organic unity of quantity and quality, of matter and soul, of state and church”.

Jelen dolgozat azt kutatja, hogy a teológiai oktatás milyen hatással van azokra, akik itt végezték tanulmányaikat, különös tekintettel arra, hogy akik teológiát tanultak, későbbi szakmai előmenetelük milyen más területekre irányította őket.

A dolgozatírás során a Heidelbergi Káténak azon kérdés-feleleteivel foglalkoztam, melyeknek tanításai/üzenetei a mindennapi élet vonatkozásában bizonyságul szolgálnak az Istenbe vetett hitünkről. Ehhez igazodva, a Káté következő kérdésköreit magyarázzuk a II. éves konfirmandusoknak: a Tízparancsolat magyarázatáról, az Isten iránti hálából származó jócselekedetekről, valamint a sákramentumokról, mint Krisztus által szerzett látható jegyekről és pecsétekről. A konfirmációs felkészítő alkalmakon szembesülni fogunk azzal, hogy a fentnevezett kérdéskörök nem csupán jól hangzó „elméleteket” rejtenek magukban, hanem egészen konkrét, gyakorlati módon kapcsolódnak élethelyzeteinkhez: pl. az Istennel való közösségünk meghatározza az embertársainkkal való kapcsolatainkat; amennyire számolunk az Isten irántunk tanúsított áldozatos szeretetével, bűnbocsátó kegyelmével, megváltó örömhírével – annyiban fogunk tudni mi is szeretettel, türelemmel, megbocsátással viszonyulni felebarátaink iránt.
