Isa 8:16 is considered a key reference regarding the formation of the book of Isaiah and the role of prophetic disciples in this process. This article argues, however, that originally this verse had a more limited significance. The instruction to which v. 16 refers is to be identified with vv. 12-15 rather than an early ‘book’ of Isaiah. The expression ‘the instructed ones’ (of YHWH rather than the prophet) is applied to the prophet’s audience. This term reflects Isaiah’s characteristic view of prophesying as an act of instruction and prophecy as a form of teaching, and it does not presuppose the existence of any prophetic school. The view that sealing the instruction would allude to preserving prophetic teaching for the posterity is discounted here in favour of understanding the symbolic act as a metaphor from the legal sphere refering to authentication, with no inherent temporal significance.

Der Stele Jahves. Sammlungen von Fremdvölkersprüchen in den prophetischen Schriften des Alten Testaments. In der heutigen Prophetenforschung wurde die Frage nach der Entstehung der Prophetenbücher zentralgestellt. Vornehmliche Andacht haben dabei die kleineren Kollektionen dieser Bücher gewonnen. Die vorliegende Studie ist den theologischen und literarischen Aspekten der Sammlungen von Fremdvölkersprüchen in den Büchern der Propheten Amos, Jesaja, Jeremia, Ezechiel und Zephaniah gewidmet. Hier wurde die Frage nach dem theologischen Prinzip dieser Kollektionen gestellt, und zwar auf Kollektionsebene und auf Buchebene. Welcher Gedanke hält die verschiedenen Fremdvölkersprüche zusammen und welcher bestimmt den Platz der Kollektionen in dem Buch, in dem sie jetzt stehen? Wie weit kann man ein gemeinsames theologisches Ordnungsprinzip hinter den Sammlungen der verschiedenen Bücher aufweisen, und wie weit sind diese Kollektionen buchspezifisch?

Kutatásom kérdése: milyen szerepe van a jövőt ismerő JHVH tematikának Deutero-Ézsaiás könyvében, milyen szerepe van a polémikus beszédmódban? A jövendőmondás kérdése Deutero-Ézsaiás könyvében leginkább a bálványok elleni polémiában emelkedik ki: JHVH az, aki ismeri a jövőt, a bálványok nem tudják megmondani, mi fog bekövetkezni. JHVH felsőbbrendűsége mellett szóló érv az a különbség, mely abban mutatkozik meg, hogy ő az egyetlen, aki előre tudja és megmondja, vagyis kontrolálja a jövőt. A bálványok elleni polémia tétje, hogy ki az igazi Isten. Ebben az istenbizonyítási perben JHVH-nak és a bálványoknak is bizonyítaniuk kell, be kell mutatniuk érveiket, hogy valóban istenek-e? Mindkét általam választott részben (Ézs 41,21-29 és Ézs 46,1-13) a próféta erre a bizonyításra hívja ki a bálványokat és azok készítőit.
