The aim of this thesis is to explore how the information society and digitalization are transforming church life, with a particular focus on new forms of community organization and communication. The research is situated at the intersection of the sociology of religion and media studies, examining the characteristics of network society, generational media use, and ecclesiastical responses to technological change. Special attention is given to online religious identity, the digitalization of religious practices, and the rise of virtual communities. Through literature analysis and the presentation of practical examples, the thesis investigates how churches can create an authentic, community-shaping presence in the digital space. The purpose of this work is also to lay the foundation for my own ministerial vocation in an era where offline and online communities are increasingly intertwined, and where new missional opportunities are emerging for churches.

A dolgozat célja, hogy feltárja, miként alakítja át az információs társadalom és a digitalizáció az egyházi életet, különös tekintettel a közösségszervezés és a kommunikáció új formáira. A kutatás a vallásszociológia és a médiatudomány metszetében helyezkedik el, és elemzi a hálózatosodó társadalom jellemzőit, a generációk médiahasználatát, valamint az egyházak válaszreakcióit a technológiai változásokra. Kiemelt figyelmet kap az online identitás, a vallásgyakorlatok digitalizálódása és a virtuális közösségek térnyerése. A dolgozat szakirodalmi elemzésen és gyakorlati példák bemutatásán keresztül vizsgálja, hogyan lehet a digitális térben autentikus, közösségformáló egyházi jelenlétet kialakítani. A dolgozat megírásának a célja, hogy saját lelkészi hivatásomat is megalapozza egy olyan korban, ahol az offline és az online közösségek összefonódnak, és az egyházak előtt új missziós távlatok nyílnak.

If we are commanded to remember the Sabbath in the Ten Commandments, why do we go to worship on Sunday? In my paper, I am seeking possible answers to this question. At the beginning of my research, I outline the position of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In the following sections, I aim to present a biblical alternative to this position. I argue that the Sabbath institution was not known to the Jewish people before their wilderness wanderings. But here it becomes the sign of the Mosaic covenant. Since the covenant was made with the Jews, the Lord does not require foreign nations to observe the Sabbath. But God promises to make a new covenant that will not only apply to the Jews. This has been realised in Jesus Christ. He is the one to whom the Sabbath points. In light of this, we cannot cling to the shadow when the light of the world has come among us.
