In this research, I have explored the theme of the immortality of the soul in the light of Plato's and Calvin's view of the soul. The work is divided into two major parts: in the first part, I examined Plato's and Calvin's view of the soul and the immortality of the soul, and in the second part, I compared the results of the first part. In the course of this research, I have discovered the similarities and differences in the details of the two conceptions. Eight units of thought were identified for the comparison and within these units, different themes were compared between the two conceptions. In the last point, one of the main questions of the topic was answered, namely whether the soul is immortal or impermanent. Although Plato and Calvin had different points of view, in the end the two concepts were the same: the soul is immortal.

Not all pastor's children remain close to the Church, despite the fact that they grew up in a religious environment and had the example and model of Christian living. The theoretical objective of my thesis is to explore pastor's children's motivations for living a pious life. For there can be external and internal motivation. The external motivation is when the pastor's child practices godly living and godly speaking, but not from an internal motivation, not from faith. They are not living a godly lifestyle because they feel they need to and because it is of value to them, but they are just living up to expectations. They behave and speak as expected by their parents, their congregation or their environment. They live godly lives either for external recognition and reward, such as the recognition of the church community or the pride of their parents, or perhaps to earn God's approval.

A Trianoni békediktátum következtében megalakult a Királyhágómelléki Református Egyházkerület. Sulyok István püspök alapítja meg az egyházkerületet, majd ő lesz az, aki a második bécsi döntés meghozatala után azon gondolkozott, hogy az egyházkerületnek vissza kell térnie a Tiszántúli Református Egyházkerületbe. A püspök néhai szubjektív meglátása arra enged következtetni, hogy nem tudta eldönteni, hogy melyik a helyes döntés ebben: önállóság vagy visszacsatolás. Kutatói munkám célja, hogy feltérképezzem, valamint jobban átlássam az akkoriban uralkodó átszervezési helyzetet, amely abban az időben alakult ki az egyházban.

Vizsgálódásunk olyan dilemmákra adhat megoldást, melyek ma is relevánsak. Mert a dolgok jelentésének értelmet kereső ember láthatja, hogy van értelme keresésének, érdemes elkezdeni azt. Mert ha beszélhetünk a lelkek preegzisztenciájáról, milyen jogon hajtunk végre mesterséges terhesség-megszakítást? Mert az önmaga sorsával elégedetlen, aki minden és mindenki mást okol nyomorúságáért végre irányt válthat, és felélesztheti saját felelősségét.

Munkám során tehát főképpen a jegyzőkönyv anyagainak a tanulmányozására és tematikus rendszerezésére szorítkoztam. Igyekeztem az izgalmasabb bejegyzéseket részletesebben, egyeseket akár szóról-szóra közölni, míg a kevésbé nagy jelentőséggel bíró eseteket csak vázlatosan megemlíteni. Végig ott volt a szemem előtt a kérdés, hogy vajon miként éltek a XIX. század közepén a gyülekezeteinkben élő hívek, és milyen kérdések, nehézségek vagy örömök voltak, azok, amik foglalkoztatták őket.
