Moral evaluation of the goals and action of today’s climate protection groups. This study traces the evolution of contemporary climate protection movements, delineating their objectives and methodologies. Through a moral lens, I scrutinise the alignment between their ends and the means employed. The concluding remarks acknowledge the commendable aspirations of these collectives towards global climate preservation. However, it is highlighted that the tactics they resort to often veer towards counterproductive outcomes.

Az aktív erőszakmentes ellenállás és a polgári engedetlenség elméletének és gyakorlatának evangélikus teológiai reflexiója nem nyilvánvaló, hiszen a Lu- ther-értelmezés egy, a 19. században kezdődött, a második birodalom felemel- kedésével kapcsolatos és még ma is ható módosulása kizárja ezeket a lehetősé- geket. A dolgozatom célja a beszűkítő értelmezés lebontása és az eredeti lutheri szándékok kortárs és kontextuális értelmezési lehetőségeinek megmutatása. Ehhez segítségül hívok néhány német teológust, akik a második világháborút követően részt vettek a lutheri örökség tisztázásában.

This paper is an expanded and somewhat more elaborated version of an earlier study in which I tried to give a general overview on the word-usage concerning the passion of Jesus Christ in the early Christian creeds. The purpose of this short paper is in part to give a comparative presentation of the sufferings of Lord Jesus Christ in the Western Creeds, and in part I also try to define the role of mentioning the name of Pontius Pilatus in them.

A keresztyénséggel egy új szellemi életelv lépett a világtörténelem szinterére, hogy azt a maga örökéletü eszményeivel átalakítsa. Ez az új életelv ellenállhatatlan erővel alakította át az egész emberi míveltséget és lett ki nem apadó forrása az újkori kultúrának. Az újkor míveltsége keresztyén míveltség és az újkor értékelése a maga ideális követeltségeivel keresztyén értékelés. Nem szabad azonban azt hinnünk, hogy az újkor míveltsége és gondolkozása tisztán a keresztyén életelvből teljesen megérthető. Tudnunk kell, hogy maga a keresztyénség is egyfelől a zsidóság, másfelől a görögség talaján gyökerezik. A hellenisztikus míveltségnek legértékesebb elemei, főleg az alexandrinismus és az újplatonismus közvetítésével a keresztyénségnek, mint tannak és társadalmi formáló erőnek szerves alkotórészeivé lettek s mint ilyenek öröklődtek évszázadról-évszázadra, nemzedékről-nemzedékre. Már az újszövetségi irodalom keretén belül találkozunk a hellenisztikus míveltség elhatározó befolyásával.

In this article we shortly introduce T. S. Eliot, noting some major themes he addresses, particularly in relation to religious faith and the search for meaning in life. In the second and third sections our article concentrates on the 1934 church pageant, called ‘The Rock’. This drama was only published once and is hard to find. However, the poetry Eliot included in the drama, called ‘Choruses from The Rock’, have been reprinted and included in various volumes so that these are readily available. But among those people who have read some or all of the ten Choruses from The Rock, very few have ever found a copy of the play in which these poems were situated.1 We present quotations from the ten choruses, with a few annotations at times concerning the context. In the fourth section we look at various aspects of Eliot’s Christology as found in The Rock.

Ez a dolgozat azt kívánja igazolni, hogy Ravasz László filozófusként és esztétaként művelte a gyakorlati teológiát. Igyekszik feltárni gondolkodásának filozófiai gyökerét, hogy tudniillik kik és milyen irányzatok voltak hatással reá, valamint azt is, hogy miként alakította ki filozófiai és esztétikai nézeteit, hogyan képviselte ezeket mindaddig, míg teológiai álláspontja más irányba nem terelte őt.

In this short paper I would like to provide a comparative analysis of the passages concerning the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Early Christian confessions (among them the Apostolic Creed1 as well), because these passages are frequently the source of theological misunderstanding and debates. The main question which urged me to do this research had occurred in relation with the Apostolic Creed. How do we say correctly: ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’ or ‘I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, under Pontius Pilate He was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell…’? I shall try to answer this question by analysing the relevant passages of the creeds which were composed in the first six centuries.

Százhúsz éve, 1882. augusztus 3-án Nagyenyeden született az egyik legnagyobb magyar filozófus, Bartók György, aki teológiánk neveltje, s pályája elején rövid ideig professzora is volt.

Átolvastam az 1998-ban nyomtatott és az Erdélyi Református Egyházkerületben 2000 szeptemberétől kötelezővé tett ágendáskönyvet. Az itt következő írás csak elemzés, de talán a velem együtt gondolkozókat alaposabban értékelő, tudományos szintű tanulmány megírására készteti.
