A Radikális Ortodoxia kortárs teológiai irányzat az angolszász akadémiákon. Legmeghatározóbb alakjának, John Milbanknak egyik programadó írását vizsgálom, melyet ’Posztmodern kritikai augusztinianizmus’ címmel tett közzé. Az írás alcíme: rövid summa negyvenkét válaszban fel nem tett kérdésekre. Az áttekinthetőség kedvéért a szerteágazó három és féltucatnyi választ négy nagyobb tematikus egységbe tömörítem, melyek a teológia új helyzetéről, a posztmodern teológiáról, az ontológiai erőszak és az Ágoston-féle mennyei béke szembeállításáról, valamint Krisztus áldozatának és feltámadásának értelméről szólnak.

E dolgozat Aurelius Augustinus Szentháromságtanának mélyebb megértésére összpontosít. Református egyházunk, hitvallásunk meghatározó tétele a Szentháromságtan, mely a maga titokzatosságával mindig hagy kérdéseket maga mögött, sok hívő ember számára nem egyértelmű, mit foglal magába e tétel. Dolgozatom arra keres választ, hogyan kell a Szentháromság személyeit egyben és külön látni, elképzelni. Augustinus komoly bibliaismerettel és apologetikai céllal írta meg művét, így a mai kor embere egy bibliailag megalapozott tantételbe nyerhet betekintést, mely nem csupán a megértésben segít neki, hanem abban is, hogy hite védelmében fel tudjon lépni. Az általam tanulmányozott szerző művében néhány ószövetségi igehely szentháromságtani jelentőségét is kiemeli. Miért nevezhető Fiúnak Jézus, kitől származik a Szentlélek, hogy lehet egyként tekinteni a Szentháromság személyeire, milyen viszony áll fenn közöttük?

Examining Some Ethical Issues in the Context of War -- One of the main questions of this paper is whether the arguments in defence of war can be coupled with equal concern for the laws of war. While a permissive reading of the classical, theological just war tradition draws a number of conclu-sions that can be debated, this essay has attempted to draw attention to the fact that Augustine's questions of disordered political commitments (loves) are insep-arable from the more familiar questions of “right reason”, “right power” and “right intention”. Augustine’s reading reminds us that political desires still determine not only decisions to enter into armed conflict, but also the application of the inter-national law. On the one hand, politics is a means of influencing the dominant powers, a means of spreading their values, but also a means of holding them to account. It is also the voice of the oppressed and the vulnerable.

Valentinus and His Teaching in the Light of Modern Research and Ancient Christian Heresiology -- The first part of this paper contains a summary of the life and teachings of Valentinus written by Bernadett Szűcs, in which the author sketches the most important aspects of this complex topic based on the early Christian primary sources harmonized with the state of the modern research. As an appendix to this introduction, the second part of this paper, written by György Papp contains the first Hungarian translation (accompanied by the original Greek text from the recently published critical edition) of one of the primary sources with a short introduction, to the text: the chapter about Valentinus in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus.

This paper presents the doctrine on baptism in the Haereticarum fabularum compendium of Theodoret of Cyrus. From this presentation we learn that Theodoret presents in this work a multi-contextual image of the “all-holy” baptism. The divine origin of the sacrament determined Theodoret to offer it a special place within his theological system. This special place is expressed through the setting of the chapter concerning baptism as well: it is put between the soteriological Christology and the chapters concerning Theodoret’s eschatology, the latter being an introduction to the ethical chapters.

I invite the reader to take a journey into the theological world of two little treatises written by one of the most interesting ecclesiastical figures of the fifth century coming from the Antiochene tradition: Theodoret, Bishop of Cyrus.

A szabad akarat és eleve elrendelés feloldhatatlan feszültségéről tengernyi irodalom született. Már az ókori filozófusokat is foglalkoztatta ez a kérdés. A bölcsészet eszköztárából kölcsönzött fogalmak segítségével számos keresztyén teológus is kifejtette meglátásait ebben a témában az évszázadok során. Jelenlegi munkánk ki szeretne ragadni három híres jelenetet ebből a máig elhúzódó drámából. Betekintést szeretnénk nyerni Augustinus és Pelagius, Luther és Eramus, illetve Barth és Brunner vitáiba az emberi szabad akarat és az isteni predestináció kérdésében. Nem kimondottan ismertetni akarjuk ezeket az összecsapásokat, hiszen ezekről a vitákról már könyvtárnyi irodalom nyugszik számos magára valamit is adó teológus vagy filozófus könyvespolcán.
