In this research, I have explored the theme of the immortality of the soul in the light of Plato's and Calvin's view of the soul. The work is divided into two major parts: in the first part, I examined Plato's and Calvin's view of the soul and the immortality of the soul, and in the second part, I compared the results of the first part. In the course of this research, I have discovered the similarities and differences in the details of the two conceptions. Eight units of thought were identified for the comparison and within these units, different themes were compared between the two conceptions. In the last point, one of the main questions of the topic was answered, namely whether the soul is immortal or impermanent. Although Plato and Calvin had different points of view, in the end the two concepts were the same: the soul is immortal.

In the present paper, we will present the minutes of the visitations of the dean of the Reformed diocese of Maros, written in the second half of 1816, in order to map the situation of the diocese in the first half of the 19th century. Before starting to work through the minutes, we have discussed in a few chapters the history and development of the diocese of Maros, the most important ecclesiastical figures of the time whose reigns influenced the life the Reformed Church in Transylvania, and we have also examined the diocese and the office of the dean in more depth. This was followed by a study of the records of the visitation of the dean. From these documents we learned about the relationship between the parishes. We also found out what disciplinary matters the dean and his associates had to deal with, which affected the leaders of the congregation as well as the members of the congregation.

A dolgozatom elkészítése során igyekeztem minél pontosabb képet nyújtani az olvasók számára az 1801-1802-es évek gyülekezeti életéről és egyházszervezetéről, ugyanakkor a 18. és a 19. századi egyház történelméről is. A jegyzőkönyvek betekintést engednek a múltba és elénk tárják az akkori gyülekezeti tagok igényeit, milyen nehézségekkel kellett megküzdeniük egyházuk fennmaradása érdekében és milyen megoldásokat találtak ezekre. Számunkra is példaértékű lehet elődeink kitartása, ahogyan küzdöttek a katolikus egyházzal szemben. Voltak, akik inkább vállalták a börtönt, semhogy beletörődjenek az elnyomásba.

A fiatalság a jövő gyülekezete – sokat hangoztatott szlogen ez egyházi körökben, főleg akkor, amikor az ifjúsági munka kerül a figyelem középpontjába. Magyar református egyházunk legkényesebb és talán egyik legvitatottabb területe az ifjúsággal való foglalkozás. Számos erdélyi gyülekezetben óriási probléma a fiatalok távolmaradása az istentiszteleti közösségektől, és egyáltalán az egyházi élettől. Ebből kifolyólag egyre többször kerül terítékre az ifjúsági munka kérdése.
