Righteousness and Suffering in Biblical and Systematic Theology

Traditionally, Christian theology interprets biblical righteousness and suffering as mirroring Christ’s righteous suffering. Yet how does this theological reading relate to scholarly exegesis and biblical theology? The question, for instance, is what role the Old Testament, with its emphasis on human righteousness and suffering, plays in this context. This volume—the unique result of a fruitful cooperation of Evangelical and Reformed biblical scholars and theologians from the Netherlands and France—explores this issue.

Romák a református templomok küszöbén

Az Erdélyi Református Egyházkerület gyülekezeteinek területén élő magyar ajkú romák helyzete és a cigánymisszió stratégiája. I. rész

A református gyülekezetek területén élő magyar ajkú cigányság helyzetének, egyházhoz való, illetve az egyház hozzájuk való viszonyának felmérése alapján készült kutatási jelentés és stratégiai elemzés. A kutatásban 274 református lelkipásztor vett részt, akik 378 gyülekezetre vonatkozóan töltötték ki a kérdőívet. A kutatási jelentés alapján azt vizsgáltam, hogy a roma közösségekhez való egyházi viszony mennyiben értelmezhető attitűdbeli, illetve strukturális kérdésként.

The Concept of the Ego in the New Age and Postmodernism in the Light of the Gospel

This master's thesis examines the ego concepts of the New Age and postmodernism, weighing them against the gospel and the Christian confessions. The research explores the birth of the modern self, focusing on how humanity shifted from following the divine order to creating its own identity. The thesis critiques the unstable, fluid identity of postmodernism, as well as the self-worshipping ego of the New Age movement. Based on Scripture and Reformed confessions, the work contrasts these modern secular ideas with the biblical worldview.

A dolgozat kritikai elemzés alá vonja a posztmodernizmus dekonstruált, folyékony én-képét, valamint a New Age pszichologizált, önistenítő egoját.

On the Sleep of Souls

This thesis examines the theology of the intermediate state, focusing on the dogmatic and pastoral significance of the unconscious state of the dead for the contemporary church. The research interprets the state between death and the final resurrection by comparing Reformed and Seventh-day Adventist perspectives, highlighting its practical implications for comforting the bereaved. Using historical and comparative methods, the study analyzes trichotomous, dichotomous, and monistic models, concluding that these theological differences are shaped by distinct anthropological presuppositions.

„A lelkek aluvásáról” A köztes állapot teológiájának mai jelentősége

Jelen dolgozat a köztes állapot teológiáját, kiemelten a lélekalvás tanának dogmatikai és pasztorális jelentőségét vizsgálja. A kutatás fő célja a halál és a végső feltámadás közötti állapot értelmezése a református és a hetednapi adventista teológiai álláspont összehasonlításával. A munka rámutat a téma gyakorlati hatására a gyászolók vigasztalásában. A dolgozat dogmatörténeti és összehasonlító módszerrel elemzi a trichotóm, dichotóm és monista antropológiai modelleket. Megállapítja, hogy az eltérések mögött sajátos antropológiai előfeltevések állnak.

The Applicability of Motivational Interviewing in Catechesis in Case of Small Groups

This thesis addresses the challenges of small-group catechesis (5–10 participants) within the Transylvanian Reformed context, characterized by declining youth participation and fragile faith commitment in the context of the Romanian Reformed congregations which comprise 2.38% of the population according to 2021 census. The central research question examines how Motivational Interviewing (MI) can be applied in catechetical settings so that faith commitment and ecclesial integration emerge from intrinsic conviction rather than external obligation.

A motivációs interjú alkalmazhatósága a katechézisben kis létszámú résztvevők esetén

A szakdolgozat az erdélyi református kontextusban tapasztalható kiscsoportos katechézis hatékonysági kihívásaira reagál, amelyet a fiatalok csökkenő részvétele és a törékeny hitbeli elköteleződés jellemez, mindezt a romániai reformátusság 2,38%-os arányának (2021-es népszámlálás adatai) figyelembevételével. A kutatás központi kérdése az, hogy miként alkalmazható a motivációs interjú módszere katechetikai kontextusban úgy, hogy a hitbeli elköteleződés és a gyülekezetbe való betagolódás belső meggyőződésből fakadjon. Az elméleti keretet a gyülekezeti pedagógia, Elaine B.

Leibniz's Theodicy

This thesis examines Leibniz's Theodicy and its problem: how the existence of evil can be reconciled with the perfection of God. It explores the interrelation of metaphysical, physical, and moral evil with divine goodness, omnipotence, omniscience, and providence. The thesis pays attention to the theory of possible worlds and to Leibniz's claim that God chose the best among all possible worlds. The thesis also analyzes the relationship between divine foreknowledge and freedom, focusing on the distinction between certainty and necessity, as well as determination and coercion.
